They've also played 5 PHENOMINAL games in the postseason for every clunker they have.

Cassel going 0-1 in the playoffs (in terms of good and bad games, not wins and losses) doesn't really encourage us or the coaching staff that he is the guy necessarily

It's already been addresssed, but Manning has played as many poor games in the playoffs as he has played good games.

C'mon.

The Rams, Titans and Raiders are not playoff-caliber opponents.

These are crucial games against inferior opponents. They are games a franchise QB should win.

While the opponents are not playoff calibre, the pressure to win is.

I would also argue that you aren't giving the Raiders their due, and I would not be the least bit surprised to see them knock off the Colts tomorrow.

Assuming the Chiefs win tomorrow, the season finale will be epic.

This. There's a reason people don't go after people like milkman when hes wrong. That's because he's not an asshole with his takes like the draftubators were.

Citing to my Patriots fandom as an insult, in a discussion where it is irrelevant and the discussion was not begun by me, is a way to rile people up about me. That would be trolling on your part. It would also be an example of trying to distract from the main argument.

He isn't riling people up about you.

I have never thought of you as anything other than a troll.
I'm sure there are countless others that feel the same way.

The main argument, was that Cassel was the best choice because he would "hit the ground running" and get us moving in the right direction faster than developing a rook.

That...did NOT...happen, and much bitching and vitriol ensued. Much to our good fortune, Cassel has become the leader and catalyst for this team to play with confidence, and to WIN GAMES.

The payoff is huge. The short-term is that we are finally back. The long term is even better. For a Cassel-led Chiefs team to make and win a Super Bowl, Pioli has no choice under God but to build Uber Team; the greatest support staff to his choice of team leader ever assembled.
And a few years down the road, when that team has become the support system for the drafted, high-round youngster which this franchise has ignorantly STARVED ITSELF FOR, the word "Dynasty" can be confidently added to the conversation for the first time in franchise history.

I'm a Chiefs fan; patience is an Eleventy Billion-year mantra. And oh yes; I can wait.

Disagree entirely. We just make this argument today because Carl Peterson was too stupid to develop a QB behind our franchise QB because he was so damn concerned about winning today.

If Cassel turns out to be the guy or at least effective, that doesn't mean the Chiefs have no hope of building a long-term dynasty. All it does is buy time to develop a QB ala Aaron Rodgers or Philip Rivers. If all works out right, a young QB should be developed and ready to go by the time Cassel is nearing the end of his prime.

Changing offenses right before the season, having the worst defense in the league, the team leading the league in drops, horrible o-line play, and having no running game until Jamaal took over had nothing to do with that

Those things played a part.

However the biggest thing that played a part in his poor play is that, in spite of years of practicing in pro set offenses, his mechanics from dropback, to footwork in the pocket, to making his throws were terrible.

Add the fact that his poor mechanics made it difficult to make reads because he was getting set late, and he had a hell of a lot more to overcome than talent around him.

This staff had worked wonders in turnig this guy into an NFL calibre QB.

I agree with all of that. Just wanted to point out that there were a ton of other factors involved in why the team did not hit the ground running. I deleted my post after actually reading his whole post :doh!:

First, I rarely post during draft weekend. It's usually late in the proceedings before I get on.

Second, I'm pretty apathetic about this draft. There aren't a ton of guys that excite me. The only way I see myself giving a shit is if we were to take an offensive lineman in R1. It's a wasted pick, this team needs SO much more.

Third, this place is always a clusterfuck during the draft, regardless of who's posting and who's not.

Ultimately, the batteries in my "give a fuck" meter are running really low. I'll watch, but it will take something pretty stupid to get me fired up.

There does seem to be a lot less interest in the draft this year than in years past. Could be a lot of reasons why, or it could just be my perception of it.

I don't think drafting late has that much to do with it. We were in a similar situation in 2007 when we took Bowe, and there was plenty of interest in the draft.

I think a lot of it stems from it being a "blah" draft talent-wise.

draft hype is down for the obvious reason of the labor struggle, plus no FA to carry over interest and generate "what if" scenarios about the draft

but

this draft, in its own way, should be awesome because nobody has the first fucking clue who we are going to take....I don't mean like last year, where we thought we knew something and turned out to be wrong...I mean nobody knows jack shit about nothing...

last year we had the first round narrowed to 2 players, this year? 10 easy at 5 positions (OL, LB, NT/DT, WR....QB?)

this year it sure SEEMS like we're taking a QB, but where? plausible scenarios from 2nd round to 6th...

I can already feel the excitement brewing, draft talk is picking up on the radio finally...and come Thursday I will be here with large reserves of Napalm...the first person who cheers the pick of Ayers is getting smoked...
