View Full Version : Chiefs Is Denver out of Luck?

Someone said by winning today they'll have no chance at the 1st pick of the draft. I didn't think their record was bad enough to qualify them for the Luck derby.

I'm telling you, we're set. We're not going to reinvest in the QB position based on what we've seen so far out of him. And I'm a guy who hated the pick to begin with. This guy is the real deal. He's got the "it" factor that you rarely see. Hear me now and believe me later. We'll see who gets the last laugh.

Hell no. Why? What's the point of reinvesting at QB if we know that Tebow can be a baller? He's a franchise guy who makes a huge difference on the field, even for the defense. We're going to be a tough team to beat with Tebow at the helm.

Whether Tebow is lucky or not, what I know is that this team plays with fire behind the guy. I like Andrew Luck a great deal, but I see no need to reinvest at the QB position. Tebow is good enough to make a difference. We should invest those resources in defense.

I'm not counting on it. I'm not sure what they'll find on the tape that would make me change my mind about the guy. His ability to turn busted plays into first downs and even touchdowns is going to be problematic for other teams. And his smartness with the football for a rookie is uncanny. He's not out there forcing throws. He'll throw the ball away and live to play another down. And he's really good about scrambling.
What teams are going to have to do is gameplan for Tim Tebow. Nobody is gameplanning for Orton.

I don't think that'll happen. It's a stretch. First, we'd have to convince Harbaugh to leave the college game. Then we'd have to somehow convince Carolina to trade down.

The Broncos are soooooooooo lacking in talent and picks that they can't afford to trade up IMO. They only have 6 picks and they are in true rebuild mode and a team in rebuild mode needs every pick possible but on the other hand if they see themselves starting from "scratch" then maybe they do sacrifice and start with the QB position and maybe some team out there on draft day still has the "Tebow Tickle" and you get a pick or 2 back for him. It will be interesting for sure their approach this offseason.

I don't know if they're set at QB or not... Tebow has looked ok and it is amusing to read the love the writers are throwing out there for the comeback at home vs that Texans.
Anyway, Denver needs to focus like a laser in the draft and FA on that defense. They need a HC with a new defensive philosophy. If they don't change their mindset on defense, then it doesn't matter on offense.

I think you're crazy if you're excited about Tebow being a Bronco. Like insane. I've never seen a team respond to a guy like this in all my years of watching football, and I watched Elway's entire career. I've never seen a team respond quite like this. Elway's game two, you wouldn't find a lot of veteran offensive linemen ready to throw blows on the field for the guy at the drop of a hat. These guys are ready to choke out lives into darkness for Tebow. I've never seen a team respond quite like this.

I think the answer is "Play with fire."
Kyle has been a solid guy, but he doesn't have any fire. He goes in, he goes out. Rather than looking pissed and determined, he has this constant look that he's mildly irritated. He just doesn't inspire the kind of leadership that will make the team run through walls. And certainly he doesn't have the athletic ability that takes a broken play and turns it into a huge gain or a touchdown. Tebow is pretty remarkable in that category.

He didn't just have a good game and make some plays. That's over-simplifying it. He took a team who had quit on itself after having lost their coach and lost any reason whatsover to play for, and took them from a 17-0 hole at home and carried them to a win with a second half that few quarterbacks have ever enjoyed in this game.
There's no need to wait on branding that as "remarkable." No need to wait at all.

Bowlen is just covering his ass. Bowlen is the least of the new coaches concern. The fans will run any coach that tries to move Tebow out of town on the same rail that they ran Josh McDaniels out on. QB is the least of our concerns right now. We've found a diamond in Josh McDaniel's dung, and the new coach will need to focus on defense, a TE, and a RB in the next draft. They can try to move Tebow at their own peril.

I think Tebow can be like Rich Gannon. A guy that people crticize because of how they look throwing the ball, but who makes 3-4 first downs a game with his legs and who has a knack for making the plays that lead to winning football.
If he has the right OC, he can lead the Donx into being a playoff contender.
And Vince Young has a great winning percentage. Vince Young is going to win a lot more games for the Titans. Fisher had no business trying to scapegoat Vince Young when he suffered a season ending injury in that game. Even if Vince Young acted immature after that game, he did not cost the Titans that game and he is not responsible for Fisher's failures as Titans coach. Vince Young saved Fisher's job last year.

Vince Young is NOT coachable. He's too immature to handle adversity. An NFL QB needs to know how to do that rather than act like a quitter when the going gets tough.
I love the idea of Tim Tebow in Denver. He's a good kid and a winner, but he's no Elway. If ya make him make the throws - he can only take you so far.

it was just one game, but he earned himself a big chance and huge fan support. And sure, it was the worst defense in the NFL...but what he did in the second half down by 17 was amazing. Our defense actually played well against their high ranked offense. He inspired the team to perform as a rookie.
Not to mention our stand-in head coach and staff.

Young maybe - shoot Tebow is already way more mentally tough than Young. But that is a great comparison about a "talented" QB that can only take a team so far before the limitations that he does have catch up with him.
Staubach - no way. I don't think Tebow is accurate enough down field.
Like I said, I'm glad Tebow's in Denver, hopefully he can keep them from drafting Luck.
