WR: Steve Smith (NYG), James Jones, Lance Moore, Steve Breaston,
OL: Tyson Clabo (RT), Doug Free (LT), Carl Nicks (G), Ryan Kalil, (C)
NT: Paul Solai, Aubrayo Franklin, Alan Branch
LOLB: LaMarr Woodley

Those would be the top of my target list. A lot are in uncertain territory due to a low number of service years and the CBA, so don't assume that all of the above are UFAs.

Sign Breaston, Kahlil, Yanda and Franklin...trade for Woodley (or totally break the bank for him as he would be a PERFECT fit for our needs) and use our remaining draft picks properly and we can improve greatly next year...though we may not have a better (or equal) record.

This, especially the Woodley part. We've got money to spend & he'd be a wonderful fit to replace brokedick Vrabel.

If Breaston is the best we can do as a No. 2 WR, he's definitely an upgrade but for some reason I feel like we can do better...

And I thought Franklin signed a long-term deal with SF before the season... Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

Anyway, I think/hope we'll start to see some money spent this offseason, not only on player extensions, but also on FAs who can help make this into a great team.

First get Shaun Smith and Tamba Hali under contract. Either a NT, WR, or OLB. Then look for the remaining of these three in the top rounds of this year's draft. I could see us going for Breaston. The draft this year is defensive heavy and we might be able to finish our defensive rebuild this year. Then IMO use mid and late rounds for O-Line and O-line depth. Would make sense for to pick up a Haley-receiver in FA.

Yes. Apparently with no CBA in place the only thing Pitt can offer him is a 30% pay increase.CBA has nothing to do with FA's for 2011. What is in place/or not in place now will be replaced by the new CBA before any free agent signings can happen.

Coogs

Restricted free agent

A player who has 3 years of experience is eligible for restricted free agency, whereby his current team has the chance to retain rights to this player by matching the highest offer any other NFL franchise might make to that player. The club can either block a signing or, in essence, force a trade by offering a salary over a certain threshold. In 2006, these thresholds were as follows:

If a club tenders an offer of $685,000 per year for a three year veteran, and $725,000 for a four year veteran, the player's current team has "right of first refusal" over the contract at those terms, and may sign the player at those terms.

If a club tenders an offer of $712,000 or 110% (whichever is greater) of the previous year's salary, then the current club has both "right of first refusal" and rights to a draft pick from the same round (or better) from the signing club. Essentially, this means that the new club must forfeit the draft pick to the old club if they wish to sign the player under these terms.

If a club tenders an offer of $1.552 million or 110% (whichever is greater) of the previous year's salary, then the current club has both "right of first refusal"; and rights to the first round draft pick from the signing club.

........................................................................................ Teams can only offer players a 30% increase with the threat of the non salary cap year because of the CBA. The date players become FA's isn't going to change. Do you think players like Woodley are going to sign an extension for 500k?

without scouring the thread, has anyone mentioned Mike Sims-Walker? I imagine he could be had relatively cheap.

I just want the Chiefs to get active in free agency again. It seemed that in the 90s they were always looking for the star fa or two to fill gaps on the team. In the last few years, it seemed like they were operating on the cheap, and rather than looking for stars looking for guys to fill gaps that aren't going to break the bank.

It's pretty evident where our holes are, let's throw some money at the top WRs, LBs and linemen and see how much we can really improve this team in the off-season. Baltimore exposed us, but a few key pieces and we can play with the NEs, Pits and Baltimores of the AFCW. Also would likely give us a good shot at repeating as division champs which should bode well for ticket sales.

Yanda really stinks. The Raven fans are ready to run him out of town.

I love James Jones. Lee Evans would be nice too, but he vanishes during stretches of games far too much. Breaston I'm 'meh' about.

Franklin reeks to me of a guy who plays for a payday.

I'd really like to bring in Paul Soliai, NT from Miami.
