Heh... you know it's funny.

Panthers fans during the Fox era watched their team go 5-3 in the playoffs and advance to the Superbowl once since 2002.

Yes, Fox is 5-3 in the playoffs since 2002.

You have to go back to 1969 to tally up 5 playoff wins for the Chiefs. KC has just 3 playoff wins since 1970. Just sayin...

Of course the Broncos haven't made the playoffs in five seasons so a guy who makes the playoffs once every three years should look like Vince Lombardi to you guys.

Fox took over a team that was 1-15 the year before he came there and two years later he had that team in the Super Bowl.

Carolina is a cheap franchise and Fox was forced to make chicken salad out of chicken shit. Nobody can call Denver a cheap franchise.

Dumbass. That expansion draft LOADED that team, and they changed the rules big time when the Texans came in because it gave the expansion teams a huge leg up. Jacksonville was also one of the most talented teams in the league because of it.

Talking smack is one thing, but Fox is a good coach. He took them to the Superbowl in his second season as head coach, which is more than Haley has done, so the reality is that all of us Chiefs fan's really can't knock him. I really would not want him in the division.

They should meet with Herm Edwards.

During 9 seasons he had sporadic results... it's really the same thing that TN should have done with Fisher a few years ago. I don't know enough about the Panthers' organization and how they spend $, etc - but, I do wonder how well he could do in Denver.

Sometimes a change just has to be made. My posts may make it seem as though I think he's a bad coach, but I don't. I just don't think he's all that good of a coach. His teams were stacked for along time. They were pre-season SB favorites a few times, and a lot of his teams under achieved. He just seems Meh to me, and his hire doesn't really frighten me, or make me happy. He's just another coach IMO.

LMAO Very true... and again, I have no idea who the best candidate is at this point... Fox, Dennison, other? All I can do is hope that they're smart enough to make the right call. I don't think there's any question that those 2 guys I listed are fine candidates, but we'll see what happens.

And, Elway is new in the role, but to think he can't be a good judge of talent and how to build a team .. it's a bit early to throw that stone. Elway saw a lot during his time, several different ways to build a team. Arena is different than the NFL, but he was successful in that venture... so we'll see what he's able to do and how the new hierarchy works out.

Yeah, I think it's great that guys like Claythan, KnowMo and others throw out their hot sports opinions on coaches... the guys likely never played a real contact sport and if it's not produced via the Internet or Twitter, they don't know about it.

We're all just a bunch of diehard fans for our teams hoping for the best and then the worst for others... so I just take all the commentary for what it is. Lots of "ideal candidates" have failed and vice versa.

Broncos coaching search may be about money (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/13/broncos-coaching-search-may-be-about-money/)

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 13, 2011, 12:03 PM EST
Broncos president Joe Ellis said weeks ago that the Broncos would find the best head coach possible, regardless of money. When a player says its not about the money, it’s usually about the money. An article in the Denver Post Thursday indicates that finances may be playing a big factor (http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_17081765?source=rss&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=twitter) in the Broncos search.
“Several NFL executives” contacted by the Post expected the Broncos to pay their new coach a contract close to what Ron Rivera got in Carolina: $11.2 million over four years. That makes sense, because the Broncos are still paying Mike Shanahan a lot of money and Josh McDaniels got a settlement from the team. (Paying money to coaches hardly guarantees results, as Dan Snyder will tell you.)
Most of the Broncos head coaching interviews would easily be cheap to hire, with John Fox being the possible exception. Fox made $3 million-per-win in Carolina last year.
For whatever reason, the Broncos have had some difficulties getting folks to interview with them. Finances could be one factor. Mike Mularkey, Jim Harbaugh, and Gregg Williams all turned down interviews.
“The word on the street has not been positive about the changes (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81d97871/article/seahawks-imitate-saints-to-advance-but-road-friendlier-for-others) in Denver’s front office,” Mike Lombardi of NFL.com wrote earlier in the week. “Having John Elway back is great for public relations, but the Broncos will need someone to help him learn on the job.”
The Broncos have been amazingly transparent (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/10/the-broncos-are-taking-this-transparency-thing-seriously/) about their coaching search, but didn’t mention Williams canceling his interview on their website. The team has spread the word they hope to name a head coach by the middle of next week.

Yeah, good hire for dinver if he gets the job. He'll get that D back into fighting form & establish a smashmouth identity on O.

But... unless he farms out a lot of the decision making in regards to his QB, WR's & overall passing game philosophy, he'll always come up just short... without Steve Smith his passing attack would've been high school caliber IMO.

He's Jeff Fisher without the hype.
