Sedgwick County deputies give aid to an accident victim... An accident that unfolded right in front of their eyes and cameras. Deputies say the man involved is lucky to be alive and the video is a reminder about the dangers of speeding.

The accident happened on Kellogg on December 22. After filing a Kansas Open Records Request for the video, KAKE News was given a copy by the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department.

It was the evening of December 22. two Sedgwick County Sheriff's Deputies were riding together on Kellogg near Meridian in Wichita. The deputy's dash cam video from the left lane shows his fellow deputy in the right lane. They could see a car behind them in their rear view mirrors approaching way too fast.

The, suddenly, a white S-U-V traveling at an estimated 90-to-100 miles-per-hour passes the deputies and veers to the left, striking the center median. As sparks and debris begin to fly, you see the deputy run over the bumper of the truck. It then came back over to the right and rolled at least twice before coming to rest on its wheels.

KAKE News obtained a copy of the video after filing a Kansas Open Records request, but the Segdwick County Sheriff's Department declined to comment based on possible pending litigation against the driver in Wichita municipal court.

The unidentified driver of the S-U-V was rushed to a local hospital that night in serious condition. He has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.

Although not commenting specifically on the video, deputies say there's no better proof than a video like this to show that high-speed and carelessness can go very wrong at a moments notice.

The driver faces a possible D-U-I charge. Police are waiting on a toxicology report done on him to determine if he was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.

Holy Shit!!! Thanks for the warning!

I was about to time travel back to Wednesday and would be driving on westbound Kellogg right around 10:55 pm.

You probably saved my life man.

The point was the video is pretty cool, but I can't figure out how to embed it.

I tried all of the methods I know of and couldn't do it either. The station apparently doesn't make them with a preset embed code. Normally you can right click on them and copy a prepared embed code.

Saw the video, nasty wreck. The driver was lucky if he didn't die. If his blood work comes back with more than blood I suspect he won't be driving for a while.

I've driven in a lot of cities, but Wichita had the shittiest drivers I've ever seen on the whole.

I'm probably overstating it, but Jesus people, the left lane is for people who want to drive a little faster.

Mine's Boston.

Although, I think that people should have to drive in Boston and LA for a year before receiving a license to drive anywhere else. If you survive, cool. If not, that's more gasoline and ICEEs for the rest of us.

Speaking of which, someone should warn the president not to ride in a convertible ASAP.

Unrelated statement. Sorry for the confusion, Bugeater. Spangles was a fast food restaurant. Best burgers and onion rings ever!
