I should have taken Irene seriously. The south have a lot more experience with hurricanes.
I didn't think I would be in the projected path of a direct hit. I've never experienced a hurricane of this scale.

I'm waiting for NASCAR to throw a caution for debris so all hell will break loose..

I found out why we'll have to wait until the last 20 laps for some excitement...

Bristol changed the banking configuration and turned it into a snooze fest.

:D well, considering it took a US force of a couple of hundred thousand troops around 9-11 mos to locate Saddam -- I'm having a hard time believing that a bunch of underequipped rebels will find Qaddafi quickly :D

Giant have any shocking releases today?

Dylan
09-03-2011, 08:28 PM
Giant have any shocking releases today?

No.

Of the 7 players from the Giants' 2010 draft - they released three today.

P Matt Dodge released - good riddance. The Giants signed Steve Weatherford from the Jets a few months ago. Jets didn't want to pay his salary -- $2.5 MM.

Mark Herzlich made the team (cancer survivor) He's a beast... I'm so happy he made the team...

Tom Couglin: “Herzlich didn’t bat an eye the whole camp. Physically, he did everything you asked and more. I saw him improve literally week by week. He can play multiple positions. He’s very smart. He does an outstanding job on special teams. He’s told one time and he goes and does it. He deserves it.”

I'm exciting with our new rookie RB -- Da'Rel Scott this preseason: 9 carries, 186 yards ... 20.7 yards per carry. ... He is so fast. ... Been a while since the Giants had that kind of explosion from a back...

Also excited with our rookie LB's -- I believe the future for the Giants at LB is Greg Jones, J. Williams and Mark Herzlich.

#58 Herzlich, Mark LB 6-4 246 24 R Boston College Rookie

49 Paysinger, Spencer LB 6-2 236 23 Rookie Oregon
53 Jones, Greg LB 6-0 248 22 R Michigan State
#57 Williams, Jacquian LB 6-3 224 23 R South Florida

Really like this guy: 39 Sash, Tyler Safety 6-0 215 23 Rookie Iowa

Star Spangled Banner +10

I fear the Chiefs may have several issues this year. Tight End wasn't one of them until today

You're not alone in the fear dept. As you know, my fear is ELI, the receivers and offensive line.

The Giants need to be a productive running team again and keep the ball out of Eli's hands as much as possible. So often, we should be running, instead of giving the ball to Eli. I'm starting to believe that Eli is our biggest problem.

The race is having weather-related issues. ... sigh

I know... If you can't race 'em, wreck 'em. What's so sad about it, the drivers were racing for sponsors next season. Mr. Dumbass.

When the Chase begins, payback from other drivers for past run-ins on the race get even.

The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup

As of the 2011 season NASCAR changed The Chase format once again. Points are tallied after 26 races and the top ten in points are locked into the final ten race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Those ten drivers will then be manually seeded with three bonus points for every race that they won during the first 26 races of the season.

In addition to the top ten the two drivers with the most wins who were not in the top ten, but are in the top twenty in points will make the Chase and will be seeded 11th and 12th. They will not get the bonus points for wins going into the Chase.

For the last ten races, NASCAR points are still assigned the same way as the rest of the season to determine the champion.

NASCAR’s Logano visits Gillette Stadium

http://assets.speedtv.com/images/article_assets/108/1089257/1089257_article_img_xlarge1.jpg

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — For a NASCAR driver used to 200-mph speeds and nerve-rattling finishes, who would have thought kicking a 20-yard field goal in an empty NFL stadium would be so tough?

Visiting Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots, in advance of Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in Loudon, New Hampshire (2 p.m., ESPN), driver Joey Logano got a few expert pointers on how to do just that from veteran Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

The 21-year old Logano is a native of Middletown, Conn. and was raised a Patriots fan. Logano races for the NASCAR team owned by three-time Super Bowl-winning head coach Joe Gibbs, and has attended NFL games with the former Redskins coach in the past.

“I watched football, but I wasn’t a huge fan until I signed with Joe Gibbs Racing. I’ve learned a lot about the sport because he talks a lot about it,” Logano explained. “I’ve become a fan of it, and from being up in the New England area, being in Connecticut, obviously you’re a Patriots fan.”

In addition to receiving a tour of the Patriots’ facilities on Thursday, Logano tried his hand at field goal kicking with Gostkowski, sending it through the uprights on his final attempt.

“Steve is an awesome guy. I had fun with that,” Logano said. “I’ve never really kicked a football before. I’m not very athletic when it comes to every sport. I’ve figured out how to drive a race car pretty good.

“I played hockey growing up. [But] kicking a football, I had no technique,” Logano joked. “I’m not very flexible — I can’t even touch my toes — so it was definitely interesting. I’m sure I didn’t look too coordinated out there.”

The Patriots may not be calling up Logano to placekick for them anytime soon, but could Gostkowski be headed for a career in racing?

“I get scared when my truck goes over 75 mph,” Gostkowski joked. “You have a lot of respect for these guys. Something like driving is a lot like kicking. People think anybody can go out and do that. But there’s definitely a lot of skill… People who have never done it, and have never been to game or a race, probably can’t appreciate it as much.”

Crap I hate these restrictor plate races when Carl drives like this. He hangs out at the back of the pack all day, and then hopes for a late charge. He's racing like he's scared again.

If I remember last year he did the same thing then got overly aggressive and ended up taking himself out of the race.

Regan Smith hit the wall hard. Martin and Hamlin put him there.

Serves Carl right for being such a wuss in this race that he probably has no chance to get to the front. This is what I hate about the "new" Carl his reluctance to race like he did when he was "hungry".

24 hours of Martinsville rolls on. Still 80 laps left. I think there's been around 30 cautions so far.
