Damn.

They're really choosing to commit to an older injured Nick Barnett over Hawk?

Hawk was due something in the neighborhood of $10 million dollars.

Looks like it, although they may re-sign him to a more reasonable contract.

Madison radio talked about this a couple days ago as a possibility and it does seem largely a business decision. While he hasn't lived up to his draft position, he certainly improved a lot last year. If I'm Ted Thompson, I'd have let the injured Barnett walk and kept Hawk to pair with Bishop.

I know stats are for suckers, but he did have 10 PDs and 3 picks last year.

If DJ didn't have stone hands, he probably would have had 7 picks.

He was a tremendous disappointment according to many.

Tyson Jackson level disappointment, not Vernon Gholston..

I believe he's the guy who tackled LJ a few years ago at Arrowhead and put LJ out for the year with a broken foot. Our season went in the dumper after that.

WTH is Laura Quinn going to do without that $10M he was supposed to get?

Not like she can ask her brother for money. He will be out on the street soon too if he's not already.

This....The Packers haven't been happy with him since he was drafted. Then the got a gold mine in Matthews to make him look that much worse.

He's been pretty average in GB.

LMAO

Yeah, all he did was average 102 tackles a year and 2 sacks.

The guy just had his best season as an ILB in the 3-4.

He'd be a serious upgrade over Belcher.

Micjones
03-02-2011, 10:08 PM
The guy obviously hasn't played to his draft position, but he has been productive. If we could sign him...He'd improve this defense in a heartbeat. I suspect he'll stay in Green Bay though.

I don't think there's any "hate" per se but the position could be upgraded, IMHO.

I agree but I also think that with a better NT every part of our front 7 would play better.

And Belcher has shown good development in his last couple years with the chiefs. And being an undrafted young player I think it's easy for pioli to like having him on the team

HotRoute
03-02-2011, 11:09 PM
With the depth of defensive lineman in this years draft I wouldn't be surprised if the chiefs decided to take a guy to fill that role of NT in the 2-3 round of the draft

This. I think Belcher is more than serviceable, but he dropped a lot of weight over the course of the season, and would be a great rotational, depth player.

Rudy lost the toss
03-03-2011, 09:27 AM
If he's anything like Shawn Barber, Kendrell Bell, or Demorrio Williams... I'm down for it

mcaj22
03-03-2011, 09:53 AM
he's actually pretty good and better than anything we've picked in the top 5 in the last ___ years (besides Berry). He's no Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis but come on honestly, how many of those guys are there in the NFL, not many.

He hasn't missed a game yet in 5 seasons, he's durable, he gives you about 6 tackles per game on average and he's an improved pass defender each season. Definitely a huge upgrade if you ask me. Pairing AJ Hawk and Derrick Johnson would maybe make our defense actually legit.

it is very mysterious seeing how the NFL is issuing a press release today, the CBA runs out tonight and teams may well go into shut down mode.
