Broncos released DL Justin Bannan.
Denver's free agent defensive line class of 2010 goes in the books as a huge bust. Bannan, Jamal Williams, and Jarvis Green combined for just 32 games at $17.25 million total. The Broncos will save $4 million on Bannan after he signed a five-year, $22 million contract a year ago. The 32-year-old will likely catch on with a team running a 3-4 scheme.

Broncos released DTs Jamal Williams and Justin Bannan.
The veteran pair was imported last year to fix the run defense in Wink Martindale's 3-4 scheme. With the move to John Fox's 4-3 defense, it didn't make sense to keep a nose tackle and a five-technique at bloated salaries. Williams was due a $1 million bonus on the third day of league year to go with his $4.2 million salary. Bannan was due a $500,000 bonus on two days later in addition to his $3.5 million salary. The moves will make defensive tackle a higher priority in the draft at No. 2 overall.

This is an obvious move to make room for TD Jesus at DT where he belongs.

Tebow is obviously going to play both ways on the field....just like he does off of it.

I said we were going to have the best 3-4 DL in the AFC West... Jamal Williams didn't play as well as I thought he would.. Bannan was a great get though...

man it's crazy to think just one year ago around this team the Donks signed both these guys and KnowMo was touting best defensive line in the AFC West.

Time fucking flies.

He wouldn't have been that far off in his prediction if he wasn't so wrong:

2010 Total Defense
#1 Sandy Eggo
#11 Oakland Raiders
#14 Kansas City Chiefs
#32 Denver Broncos

Damn. With the way they are cutting the highly paid veteran players I wonder if Dawkins is next....

I am now 100% positive that Dareus or Fairley will be a Bronco.

The only reason I thought our DL was going to be good last year was because I thought Jamal Williams was still a beast of a NT....

Dawkins is slowing down, but he's a GREAT locker room guy.

I'm not saying he isn't. I like Dawkins the person, but wouldn't want him on my favorite team anymore. I think that he'll make a good coach, if he wants to be one, when he retires.

Bronco sources confirm they do have interest in bringing back one of the players they cut. Don't count Justin Bannan out yet.

They will have to re-sign one of these guys to help when Vernon Gholston goes poopy. Unless that falls under great locker room guy duties. HA duties.
