This is so f*cking pathetic...

The federal government posted its largest monthly deficit in history in February at $223 billion, according to preliminary numbers the Congressional Budget Office released Monday morning.

That figure tops last February’s record of $220.9 billion, and marks the 29th straight month the government has run in the red — a modern record. The last time the federal government posted even a monthly surplus was September 2008, just before the financial collapse.

Last month’s federal deficit is nearly four times as large as the spending cuts House Republicans have passed in their spending bill, and is more than 30 times the size of Senate Democrats’ opening bid of $6 billion.

Senators are slated to vote this week on those two proposals — both of which are expected to fail — and then all sides will go back to the negotiating table to try to work out a final deal.

From the Wall Street Journal 10/5/2007:

The Congressional Budget Office estimated Friday that the U.S. federal budget deficit for fiscal year 2007, which ended Sunday, was about $161 billion, or 1.2% of gross domestic product. That’s down from the $248 billion shortfall recorded in fiscal 2006, which translated into 1.9% of GDP. The Treasury Department will report the official tally later this month.

And take heed and rejoice that it's Jenson's generation that is going to get it shoved up their ass the hardest. :thumb:

You just hate the middle class and the unions and kids, and old folk, and students, and the poor and cripples.

PULL UP!!..PULL UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....static.

Seriously this isn't a dem or rep thing. It's time for those that live with the decisions our representatives make to take hold of the controls.

Which ever party that stops the spin I'll support.

Everybody. Are you ready to defend cuts to education and pay more tuition?

That is quite the vicious cycle. Who's going to sacrifice?

Obama said some people will suffer but we will get through this. All the people who voted for him are bitching as much as those who didn't vote for him. And yet when the cuts come up, people bitch. But yet they can't bitch about his massive $$$ HC bill that was passed without reading it.

People are too cynical.

Did anybody watch 60 minutes last night?

(CBS News) Unemployment improved a bit last month but it is still nearly nine percent and the trouble is job creation is so slow, it will be years before we get back the seven and a half million jobs lost in the Great Recession. American families have been falling out of the middle class in record numbers. The combination of lost jobs and millions of foreclosures means a lot of folks are homeless and hungry for the first time in their lives.

One of the consequences of the recession that you don't hear a lot about is the record number of children descending into poverty.

The government considers a family of four to be impoverished if they take in less than $22,000 a year. Based on that standard, and government projections of unemployment, it is estimated the poverty rate for kids in this country will soon hit 25 percent. Those children would be the largest American generation to be raised in hard times since the Great Depression.
