Headed there soon. Staying on Canal Street. Any recommendations? Places to see? Avoid? Good eats without sacrificing the budget? We have a car, but hope to walk as much as possible.

Hey you're from side-by-side states. Both going to the same place.

Sounds like a steamy date!

Used to be a huge swimmin' hole there. Might be gone now, though.

I thought it was funny, but don't recognize the guy at the end. Who is he?

I can't remember his name, but he is (or was, not sure if he's still relevant) a high profile defense attorney.
like Robet Shapiro, and the other old crusty defense attorney from the OJ trial.....that level of attorney etc.

New Orleans is an awesome city. Bourbon Street is a must. French Quarter district during the day is a very pretty walk, wouldn't want to try it at night. Don't get lost in Ninth Ward. Get a Hand Gernade at Tropical Isle. Best drink in New Orleans by far. Food down there is just amazing.

jeeezzz its not that dangerous. Just stay in the main drags in the French quarter and you'll be fine.

Take the trolley around town. Cool way to see the city. Take the route down by the water and down the old part of town with all the old trees and cool houses.

They have some cool haunted house tours at night.

You have to get the chickory coffee and beignets at Cafe Du monet

Old Absitnthe House for a morning 'eye opener' Bloody Mary. Central Grocery for a Muffaletta.

Have you been before? I think New Orleans is truly a unique American city. Such a melting pot of cultures, even long before the Louisiana purchase. I'm the kind of person that gets a thrill just walking the streets of the French Quarter (and, no, its doesn't have to be Bourbon street).

NOLA is such a special place. Love it!

Gerry Spence

Gerry Spence (b. January 8, 1929, Laramie, Wyoming (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/wiki/Laramie,_Wyoming)) is a trial lawyer (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/wiki/Lawyer) in the United States (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/wiki/United_States). In 2008, he announced he would retire, at age 79, at the end of the Geoffrey Fieger (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/wiki/Geoffrey_Fieger) trial in Detroit (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/wiki/Detroit), MI (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/wiki/Michigan). Spence famously claims to have "never lost a criminal case either as a prosecutor or a defense attorney. He has not lost a civil case since 1969."[1] (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/#cite_note-0)[2] (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/#cite_note-ABA-1) However, Spence lost a criminal case in a bench trial but prevailed on appeal.

#1 Rule if you are new to the area, straight and headed out to Bourbon. Park at the Riverwalk, then go to Jackson Square. From one of the streets on either side of Jackson Square, walk to Bourbon. When you get to Bourbon, go LEFT! There are a couple of ok places to the right, but go too far right and... well... those aren't really women you're winking at.

Grant it, I haven't been back down there & bar hopping for ~11 years, so things may have changed. But being born & raised in Baton Rouge, I can say its been that way for over 20 years. Of course, if you find the cross dresser have crept further to the left, well, there's a few voodoo shops in the area you can lose them in.
