Deputy: Strip Search Finds Crack Between Buttocks

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -- A deputy said the strip search of a "belligerent" man after a traffic stop turned up crack cocaine in a plastic bag tucked between the manís buttocks.

The Spartanburg County deputy using speed radar on U.S. Highway 176 said that at about 3 a.m. Tuesday, a vehicle passed him going 51 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to a police report.

The officer said that he pulled over the 2006 black Nissan Altima in the vicinity of Springfield Road.

The driver was identified as 23-year-old Marvel Foster. He was the only person in the car, the deputy said.

According to the police report, Foster told the deputy he didnít have a driverís license. The deputy said that he noticed a leafy substance on the floor of the driverís side, and the car smelled of cologne.

The deputy said that a check determined that Fosterís license had been suspended for a drug violation.

The deputy called for another officer to assist and searched Fosterís car after he agreed to allow it. The deputies said Foster also agreed to let them search his person.

The police report said that the deputies found $1,757 in Fosterís pocket that he said he got from his girlfriend. The deputies then searched the vehicle and said that they also found two bags of a leafy green substance. The officers said at this point, Foster became belligerent and they arrested him.

Deputies said that Fosterís vehicle was towed from the scene and Foster was transported to the Spartanburg County Detention Center, where, in accordance with normal procedures, he was stripped searched. In that search, the officer said he found a large white crack rock inside a clear bag tucked between Fosterís buttocks.

Foster is facing driving under suspension and drug trafficking charges.
