You obviously don't know anything. Basketball is every bit as popular/revenue laden as football in college/WickedSon.

I'm surprised KSU makes 4 times as much as KU. I mean the cost of shipping people out to the middle of nowhere has to be astronomical.

K-State revenue was slightly below that of Kansas. Kansas had more expenses.

If you are talking total profit, it does mean nothing. If you are wanting to talk how much football brings in, then post total revenue not total profit. The reason KU's football profit numbers are down is they spent the 5th most in the conference on football. (I'm not trying to say they have a huge revenue, they were 10th in that, but the profit numbers are down because they are spending to build the program.)

Wondering how Kansas ends up second in athletic department profit after nearly depleting their football revenue with football expenses? Basketball, of course. During this same time period, Kansas ranked #11 amongst all BCS schools in basketball revenue. Texas followed closely behind in twelfth position.

Interesting.

The other article someone linked had KU ranked #3 in the nation in terms of basketball revenue behind UNC and UK.

People have limited amount of $$ to spend on going to sporting events, etc.

This year's basketball team is competing for a National Championship like they do every year.

The football team had a terrible end to the season last year thus hasn't been able to sell as many tickets as when they were off winning a BCS bowl.

Obviously the goal is to get back to that level.

One also has to consider that revenue for a number of cases is likely underreported if it's not allocated for instance looking at the government data here's the KU revenue.

Basketball $16,116,502 $283,507 $16,400,009
Football $17,885,176 $17,885,176
Total Revenues of all Sports, Except Football and Basketball, Combined $583,121 $247,310 $830,431
Total Revenues Men's and Women's Teams $34,584,799 $530,817 $35,115,616
Not Allocated by Gender/Sport $36,765,495
Grand Total for all Teams (includes by team and not allocated by gender/sport) $71,881,111

Notice the $36 million not allocated to any sport?

For instance the Missouri numbers

Basketball $9,540,265 $251,075 $9,791,340
Football $25,378,066 $25,378,066
Total Revenues of all Sports, Except Football and Basketball, Combined $490,853 $403,183 $894,036
Total Revenues Men's and Women's Teams $35,409,184 $654,258 $36,063,442
Not Allocated by Gender/Sport $19,610,837
Grand Total for all Teams (includes by team and not allocated by gender/sport) $55,674,279

Only $19million unallocated.

How much of the $36million KU gets is driving by basketball related donations?

Yea football which is the biggest revenue generator means nothing.

BTW since I didn't get to list the nebraska revenue before I had to leave.

Basketball $6,022,208 $1,080,655 $7,102,863
Football $49,928,228 $49,928,228
Total Revenues of all Sports, Except Football and Basketball, Combined $1,627,186 $2,370,584 $3,997,770
Total Revenues Men's and Women's Teams $57,577,622 $3,451,239 $61,028,861
Not Allocated by Gender/Sport $12,454,872
Grand Total for all Teams (includes by team and not allocated by gender/sport) $73,483,733

http://www.newsnetnebraska.org/news/unl-four-year-grad-rate-lowest-in-big-12/

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is described as a four-year institution, but for the majority of students here, four years aren’t enough.

Brandi Kawamoto was one of those students. Now a graduate student in fine arts, Kawamoto was an undergraduate for six and a half years. Two years of community college yielded less transfer credit than anticipated and she took four and half years to get through the university.

Kawamoto’s story of delayed graduation is common. UNL’s four-year graduation rate is 29.4 percent, according to UNL’s 2010-2011 Fact Book . This latest number tracks fall 2006’s first-time, full-time freshmen.
