I have had baseball sized hail. Kind of an eery feeling when you are sitting in the house listening to it beat the sh*t out of stuff outside. We did get a insurance check on our roof.

We had it last Sunday night. Vultures have decended upon your little town wanting to do our roofs. It's awful.... especially since my company sells roofs. Uh - why are my neighbors hiring vultures from 3 states away to replace their roof when I life just down the street from them?

Started getting really loud on my drive home from work, then I realized I could start to see rain forming to hail, and by the time I got to a red light it was full on hail storm. I ran a red, pulled a U-Turn into a Quik Trip, and waited it out. The major issue? I drove my fiancees car to work today. I would never hear the end of it if I drove through hail.

We are finally turning the corner here and will see our first true spring mild spell, which means, bad weather for you. Be safe.

I am NOT going to miss this winter though. Good bye and good riddence. Still almost a foot of snow in the woods, although the yards are dry and firm enough to walk on now.

This winter sucked soo bad. Near zero or below continuously from mid Dec through Mid March. We had weeks where it never reached zero. And the fuggin snow...125" of the stuff. It snowed and snowed and snowed...

Bad winter.

Still, we may see two warnings a year here in July/Aug. Tornadoes are downright nasty.
As much as I plan to storm chase some, someday out your way, they are not something to be in the path of. Worse we get are blizzards. Winter cold core hurricanes. But they hit the coast so much worse than here inland. We just get 3 feet of white shit. Winds, trees down stuff.

Tornadoes explode houses and stuff.

I have a friend in Ponca City, OK, who was out of electricity last night. Minor property damage, and a ton of tree limbs. Another friend posted a picture on her facebook page of a piece of hail that took up her entire palm. I can't remember if she moved down to Ponca or if she's still in Arkansas City.

I had a friend call me this morning, and he said something about being awake during the storm. If we had any kind of storm, I slept through it, and everthing is dry this morning.

I talked to a friend near where you are. He said same thing. Cannot believe we have such excess rain/snow moisture, pastures are a disaster with ruts from haying cows, water in many fields...we are super soaked...thus a lot of talk of flooding in the near future.

MAPLETON, Iowa – Jamy Garden's house began to rumble with the approach of a tornado that at one point measured three-quarters of a mile wide. Then the windows shattered, spraying her with glass. Using her cellphone as a flashlight, she fled to her basement and called her grandparents in tears.

On Sunday, she returned home, wandering her backyard in a blood-splattered hooded sweat shirt, her right hand and left knee wrapped in gauze. Around her lay a tangle of tree branches, twisted siding, broken glass and a canoe that wasn't hers.

The tornado that struck the evening before damaged more than half of Mapleton, a town of 1,200 in western Iowa, Mayor Fred Standa said Sunday. He estimated about 20 percent of the town was "almost flat."

The huge, centuries-old trees the town was named for had been pulled out of the ground and wrapped around houses and tossed on top of cars, Standa said. In one case, a huge motor home had been flipped on its side. .............(more)

Apparently, they've put something up on tv. I'm being bombarded with texts from my mom. Are you okay? Do you have someplace to go? Do you have a way to keep track of the weather? These types of concerns are kind of ironic to me considering she lives in a trailer.

My grandma grew up way before electricity was available in the country and her family was very poor. When bad storms happened, they didn't have much warning except for what they observed. When she was older, she hated storms even when modern technology allowed for quite a bit of advanced notice. She would put herself in a closet until the storms passed she was that scared of them
