No matter what anyone says, Jermaine O'neal is NOT a center. Shaq better come back fast.

If Memphis continues to play with the same intensity on the defensive end, I don't think OKC is going to have a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to Tony Allen/Young/Battier defending Durant. They have three really active defenders to throw at him. He'll still get his, but he'll have to work hard for it. Ibaka defending Randolph should also be fun.

Go Grizz. They are a handful right now.

Tough loss for OKC today. I'm not melting down & I don't think the sky is falling, but there's definitely some concern and some things that need to be worked out.

I still expect it to be a long, tough series that should be fun to watch.

No it's not over by a Long shot. I'm disappointed with the energy we showed today but I think well bounce back. Memphis is playing better than anyone in the NBA right now IMO. They share the ball and have a dominant inside presence. I picked the Thunder in 7 and I'm sticking to it. If we lose game 2 we are fucked. If Westbrook takes care of the ball and our role players step up we'll be fine. The year is a successes regardless of what happens anyway. My goals for the beginning of the year were to win the division and a first round series and we did that. Our 4 best players are 22 and under. I think expectations went up when a 8 beat a 1 but this is the best 8 seed in the history of the NBA. We may as well be playing the one as far as I'm concerned. I would have rather drew the Lakers or Dallas even before this game. I believe the winner of this series goes to the finals.

We all know that Kobe has the ultimate trump card in 5 rings. Of course, Dirk has never had a supporting cast that would approach any of Kobe's when he was a part of those 5 championship rings. So, what do the playoff numbers say? Of course, Dirk's numbers will be listed first. % increases from regular season numbers.

Dirk - Kobe

Pts/game - 25.7 (+11.7%) - 25.4 (+0.4%)
FG% - 45.9 (-3.57%) - 44.8 (-1.32%)
3pt% - 37.4 (-1.84%) - 33.8 (-0.29%)
FT attempts per game - 8.83 (+35.85%) - 7.37 (-3.03%)
FT% - 88.3 (+0.68%) - 81.6 (-2.51%)
Reb - 10.7 (+27.38%) - 5.1 (-3.77%)
Ast - 2.6 (-3.70%) - 4.8 (+2.13%)
TOV - 2.21 (+16.32%) - 2.95 (+1.72%)
WS/48 - .206 (-3.74%) - .161 (-13.90%)
TS% - .579 (-0.69%) - .543 (-2.34%)
Per - 24.7 (+4.22%) - 22.4 (-4.68%)

Dirk has has plenty of good team's after the 2004 Lakers dismantled, Dallas and Pheonix were given the keys and choked it all away. Dirk is only a scorer tho, so he's always going to get knocked down a few notches. He's a way better shooter then Kobe, no one will deny that, but thats where it ends. He's a great shooter and what else? he sucks at rebounding, he sucks at defense and isnt physical. Plus dude choked away great seasons like i said. Same with Nash.

I'm not able to watch right now, but stats tell the story with the Bulls. If Rose doesn't play like an MVP, they struggle. Boozer has been a big disappointment, and Noah just doesn't seem to be in his usual form after the ankle injury late in the regular season.

For those that don't follow HoopData on Twitter (you should), Kobe had 29 attempts and not a single one of them came from the rim. Not a single layup or dunk.

That's freaking amazing, and if it's a sign that he's still hobbled, it's a huge factor in this series moving forward.

Collison played his ass off tonight. He gave Z Bo fits. It never shows up in the box score but he is one of the most valuable players on the team. The whole bench played great tonight. I want early Sunday games banned in OKC BTW. we suck balls in them. I'm confident we can go get one back in Memphis.

LeBron James ran over Rajon Rondo with such force that he turned the point guard into a bouncing rag doll. Ray Allen needed treatment for a bruised chest after colliding with James. Paul Pierce limped on a sore foot after Joel Anthony stepped on it. The Heat rose up to reject nine Boston shots.

...

The Celtics were so battered that coach Doc Rivers compared his sideline to a “circus,” with hurting players shuttling in and out of the locker room.

“It was sketchy,” Rivers said. “For me it was tough because I didn’t know who the hell was healthy.”

Boston was held to 43 percent shooting, was out-rebounded 44-38 and blocked two shots to the Heat’s nine. The Heat made 27 of 36 free throws compared with Boston’s 17 of 22.

Yeah, I have no doubt we can win one in Memphis. That game was not close at all. If we play with that intensity, we will see the Heat in the finals.

The spread had everything to do with Maynor playing his best game ever and Harden playing at his ceiling. We'll see what happens when the bench doesn't bring that much (like the first game).

List several back up point guards who are better. He's in the top third at least. Also remember others on the team are capable of scoring more. I don't understand what your argument really is. He stepped up and scored because they gave him shots. A point guards job isn't to score all the time is it? If you watch this team every game, which I have, you understand how valuable he is. He is a great fill for Westbrook because he settles down the offense and does different things. We don't need him to score double digits. People don't seem to understand players like Maynor, Collison. And Perkins are valuable even if their boxscores often look like shit. The only reason I commented is because you acted like our bench isn't capable of contributing and that's just wrong. It may not always be points but they find ways to help us win. If we lose the series it will be because of solid performances by Memphis. People who knee jerk react to game one are looking at the exception not the rule. Right. In order for them to win the title Wade and LePippen are going to have to play lights out every night, which isn't unlikely. The only team remaining in the playoffs that has a worse supporting cast of role players is the Bulls, but they play better collectively as a team.

Somebody said game 2 was a blowout. I simply said that it only got that way because Maynor played out of his a$$, which he did, raining down threes. I didn't say he sucks, or Collison, or anybody else. I like OKC, they have a solid bench that helps them win games. But someone implying that games going forward are going to look like game 2 is off base. That's as good as Maynor has played all season; it can't be expected again. Without him, it's another tight game in game 2. And I expect this series to be hard fought throughout.

Better backup PGs : George Hill, Delonte West, Barea, J. Crawford, Lawson, Jarrett Jack, Dragic, Brooks, Udrih are all guys I'd rather have. There are other players that are even with Maynor. He's improved since then, but the Jazz gave him away for a reason.

They also played the Sixers and Celtics. The Celtics have been shut the second half of the year. People falsely thought they were back because they swept a Knicks team that sucked balls and had injury problems. Lebron and Wade are great obviously but at some point they'll need help.

Agreed, but even if the Bulls get by Atlanta, I don't think they'll have it in them to beat a rested Heat team either. Boozer is a mere shadow of his former self, Rose is injured enough that it's impacting his play, Bogans is the worst starting SG in the league, and LeBron can help to neutralize their #2 in Deng. Heat can throw Chalmers, Wade and LeBron at Rose to go along with traps out high to get it out of his hands. It's not a great matchup for Rose, and Boozer isn't playing well enough to take advantage of Bosh.

Boozer has really pissed me off. I'm speechless at his play. He looks like a fit dude playing in a pick up game after work to stay in shape. It doesn't look like he has NBA talent at all.

Me to my friend Lewis (LA fan): "did you ever think JJ Barea would be the one who ended the Kobe era?" Lewis (surly): "No."

Lakers look like they are just a mentally and phsycally tired team. Cant really blame them. 3 straight finals and asking them to go to a 4th in a row is insane.

The Lakers franchise has been to the finals 7 out of the last 10 years. Cant ask for more then that as a fan. I am happy to say i have seen them win the championship 10 times in my life. :) I honestly wouldnt mind see'ing Dirk get his first ring. I like the dude. Plus i am a Cuban fan, I want dude to buy the Dodgers in the worst fucking way.

I think this thread should be deleted since a Heat fan started it and they are doing so well. MODs? Please stop this shit in it's tracks. With all the headless white shirts I think half the people in Miami want to see them die.

STFU n00b

Even with a 2-0 lead, I'd have to see it to believe the Heat will come out of their series with the Celtics. The Heat are a show they won't ever win a title with all three of those guys together regardless.

ROFL Good to see you're committed to going down with the ship.

Fun facts, Lebron suckers:

Miami Heat 95, Dallas Mavericks 106 (http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201011270DAL.html)

LeBron & Wade - 13 for 35

Dallas Mavericks 98, Miami Heat 96 (http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201012200MIA.html)

LeBron & Wade - 14 for 34

If you think this Miami playoff team is the same team from November & December, you're in for a big surprise.

Yep, they are just getting their tails punched in this series. Props to the Mavs.
