Derrick Rose shot 44 percent in the regular season. He's a good player but no way he should have been MVP this year.

Shit, after tonight he's shooting less than 40 percent in the playoffs.

He basically had the same stats as Westbrook.

Do you even understand the role of a point guard? Why don't you mention his PPG, his assists, assist to turnover and how he improved just about every facet of his game.

You take Rose off the Bulls and they are a lottery team.

Good player. Not MVP.

BS.

Here's a post from 2008 where I lament the playoff loss to the Hornets.

By the way, Dirk had a great playoff series.

47 percent from the floor, 27 ppg, 12 rpg, 4 apg

You couldn't ask for more.

Too bad Stackhouse played 20 minutes a game and shot 31 percent from the floor.

Too bad Pothead Howard played 34 minutes a game and shot 29 percent from the floor.

Hell, Jason Kidd shot 42 percent and 46 percent from 3-point range this playoffs. Don't blame him.

Would you like to know more?

And this is why I hate when people bring up stats.

DRose was the Chicago Bulls. You think if you replaced DRose with Wesbrook the Bulls would have had the 1 seed? Shit if you replaced Westbrook with Drose, the Thunder would have probably been the 1 seed in the West.

I like the Lakers too! Hell I like Kobe, a lot. But they got murdered tonight.

The Hawks outplayed the Bulls tonight. Refs weren't great - but I don't think that that's what decided the outcome.. BTW - The Hawks I don't think will even get PAST the Bulls - so whatever... Just kills me, can't even be a fan of another team. :cuss:

I think Rose compares poorly to past MVPs.

By the end of this season, he was the consensus MVP, even among other players. Even Dirk sent a tweet out congratulating DRose, saying the award was well deserved. For what he's asked to do (which is most everything on offense), he's great. You really have no idea what you're talking about here. He wasn't great tonight, but his team asks him to carry the load on offense. Most night's he does it; tonight he struggled, it happens.

Where were you two days ago with this kind of comment?

KevB
05-08-2011, 09:48 PM
Official Bennett Salvatore said after the game that Rose got fouled on the three pointer, and he should have called it. He said he made a mistake. That was a huge missed call.

As most/all of you know I'm a Celtics fan, so of course I rejoice in the Lakers taking it on the chin hard and getting swept out of the playoffs.

But there is hating your opponent in the good old fashioned "I hate you because you're wearing that color jersey, but damn I wish you played for my team." Magic Johnson was really the epitome of that for me as a teenager.

Then there is "I hate not just that you wear the other team colors, but that you are a fucking thug who is contemptible and the sport is better without you." That would be Bill Laimbeer and, really, the rest of those late 80s Pistons teams, by and large.

I didn't think the Lakers were in the later category until tonight. Or, more specifically, Odom and especially Bynum, whose fucking cheap shot longafterthegameisover could have dramatically effected the rest of the playoffs by potentially seriously injurying a player on a team that is moving on.

May Bynum's knees/feet/whatever be a chronic source of agony for him until he is forced to retire from the game of basketball long before his prime.

May Odom be forced to deal with Kardashian drama forever.

Fuck them both.

I'm no fan of Phil Jackson, but he didn't deserve to have to deal with that kind of BS non-basketball bullshit on his way out.

I see that you are as butthurt as Lakers fans.

Derrick Rose should try being a point guard instead of a ball hog.

So because I disagree with your ridiculous point that he's not MVP worthy, I'm butthurt? Is that your fallback when things don't go your way?

Rose went for 25 and 8 this season, with great numbers across the board. He was unquestionably the best player on the best team in the regular season. He was nails in crunch time throughout the season, and is a modest leader on a team that plays the right way. He works hard and has improved every facet of his game. He's the very definition of what an MVP is.

I don't disagree that 32 is too many shots. He didn't have a great game tonight and you'd like him to shoot a better % than he has thus far. If that was your criticism, I wouldn't argue with you. But you've continually argued that he wasn't worthy of the MVP, and now you're using playoff stats to justify your position.

Bynum did the exact same thing to Beasley earlier this season, so it's become a trend. He's a petulant punk who deserves to be suspended 5-10 games to begin next season.

10, and without pay of course.

What a complete bitch move, nailing a little guard who is helpless in the air like that. Oh, and the other team can't even retaliate because they might get suspended in the upcoming playoff games, while you can take regular season games off next year.

If he did this before then he should lose 10 games PLUS one playoff game next year if his team makes the playoffs. That kind of thuggery has nothing to do with basketball.

What happened today is the natural culmination of what's been building all season long. It's the dam that was leaking...but everyone just wanted to stick the fingers in the holes and pretend that everything was ok. Heck, I did the same thing.

"Oh, they'll turn it on in the playoffs." "They're fine. They're just pacing themselves."

Or not. I can handle the end of a dynasty. It's not the first time Lakers' fans have gone through this. But the boorish and classless responses of Bynum/Odom/Artest in Game 2 were just embarrassing.

For all the generalizations about the Lakers and their fans, the Lakers are a very proud tradition in the NBA and behavior like that won't stand internally. Look for a massive retooling of the roster, and nobody's safe.

I was just now able to stomach looking at the 4th quarter of the game. All they did the last six minutes was have Russ dribble and try to get KD open. KD could only get the ball around the three point line when he could get it. Russ didn't take any real bad shots. They stopped moving the ball like they had the previous 42 minutes. The isolation crap at the end of games has prevented us from protecting leads all year. I have to point the finger at Brooks not Westbrook. Also, they had 44 free throws to our 23. KD shot 1 free throw the whole game. He was getting mugged by Allen and Battier the whole game. I won't blame the refs for the loss but they were definitely only blowing the whistle on one side yesterday. We will bounce back and win. We are the better team IMO. of course the better team doesn't always win :(

Either way the winner has little chance against Dallas with the way they are playing. I don't think we are a serious championship contender until next year but I would love to get in the WC finals for the experience.

When Serge Ibaka gets more consistent offensively, and he will, look the fuck out!

One day he'll explain to all of us how trading a hardass big man, who's maybe the only player in the league who can defend Dwight Howard one-on-one adn who would have had Miami's big men wetting themselves every game, for a soft tweener was really a stroke of brilliance on his part.

He's starting to come across as a fool at this point. The only thing you see out of him is a scowl every time they call a foul on him, which is often. Getting technicals and scowling doesn't make you tough Perk. Strange to see him as a shell of his former self.

Same guy he's always been. He's usually a better shooter and knocks down open threes. Otherwise, he's a glue guy that plays very good defense. He's a big part of why Durant hasn't gone off very often in this series.

Some of his shots went to Rudy Gay before he went down. Also, Xavier Henry played a fair amount before he got hurt and shot the ball more than Tony Allen/Sam Young. With those two starting on the wing, Gasol has to be a scorer and he's stepped up to that challenge.
