I like how she freely uses "us" and "them" when describing race, but then mockingly acts like others are saying "those people"
If you don't like the "those people" mentality, then don't keep referring to races as "us" and "them"

What is the error in fact about what she is saying?

What is the error in fact about what she is saying?

Well, I doubt she's gone out and spoken to the majority of white people so I doubt if she can say what the majority of white people believe.

Racists are the ones who divide us into "us" and "them;" she's merely recognizing that reality.

Then I guess she's a racist, because she was dividing people into us and them.

Gee, I wonder why people you call racists without even knowing them don't want to vote for you.

Come on, it's not like she making broad sweeping statements about an entire race of people based entirely on their skin color.

I mean, that would be racist...

Well, she'd be right if she'd said "in Mississippi" on the tail end of that.

"Racist, fearful whites" is definitely a racist term.

She didn't use that term once. There's nothing racist about what she said

I wonder how it would be received if some Republican said "uneducated angry blacks are why the repubs don't do better with black voters".

Mika apparently agrees with Mrs. Brazile. :shake:

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/mika-well-have-class-warfare-on-its-worst-levels-if-rich-white-men-dont-contribute-more/

Joe Scarborough, the show’s co-host, was in the middle of explaining that ”middle class entitlements…are going to bankrupt this country,” when Mika chimed in with her own two cents:

I just don’t understand why with top earners doing better than ever, why they can’t be a part of this equation. . . . And if you looked at the New York Times yesterday, and you saw the top 30 earners, and how much money they are making all over again, including some of the people who drove us into the ditch – all white men, by the way, just one woman – and I didn’t see any African-Americans – I think we have a problem that we need to address as a society.

She went on to say that the country will have “class warfare on its worse levels” if these top earners do not contribute more. Contribute more how? By taxes, of course. Mike Barnicle, speaking on the show, suggested raising taxes on those who earn $250,000+ a year–and Mika eagerly agreed this is what President Obama should do. (h/t Newsbusters).

If the article about it used a title that implied those things were said when they weren't, I would guess it would be equally meaningless.

People can spin this all they want. The fact is she states "the majority of white people" I could give two shits about anything after that. She speaks for a majority and loses creditability at that. It is a self serving rant and her absolute proclamation is reason enough to move on~

I agree, the title is misleading. But there can be no mistake that she's not "all about equality" and that she has a view that "most" white people think that way. She's being racist, but at least she's being honest. You'd never hear a white guy get away with that little speech in reverse...

FACT....most wealthy people are white (non-pro athletes to be non-PC here)

FACT....most minority families are poor (or poorer than most white families) and rely more on govt spending programs. Especially those living in the inner cities.

FACT....because of this, there are more whites paying taxes in order to fund the programs that are needed by the blacks and other minorities.

Are you kidding? We just had a legislator in Kansas who suggested we should shoot illegal immigrants like feral pigs and nothing happened to him.

Kansas legislator suggests using hunters in helicopters to control illegal immigration, likens immigrants to feral hogs

Rep. Virgil Peck makes comment about using hunters in helicopters to battle illegal immigration

State Rep. Virgil Peck, R-Tyro, said Monday it might be a good idea to control illegal immigration the way the feral hog population has been controlled -- with hunters shooting from helicopters. He later said he was just joking, but that his comment did reflect frustration with the problem of illegal immigration.

Topeka — A legislator said Monday it might be a good idea to control illegal immigration the way the feral hog population has been controlled: with gunmen shooting from helicopters.

Rep. Virgil Peck, R-Tyro, said he was just joking, but that his comment did reflect frustration with the problem of illegal immigration.

Peck made his comment during a discussion by the House Appropriations Committee on state spending for controlling feral swine.

After one of the committee members talked about a program that uses hunters in helicopters to shoot wild swine, Peck suggested that may be a way to control illegal immigration.

Appropriations Chairman Marc Rhoades, R-Newton, said Peck’s comment was inappropriate.

Rhoades said he thought Peck was joking, but added, “Hopefully he won’t do it again.”

Asked about his comment, Peck was unapologetic. “I was just speaking like a southeast Kansas person,” he said.

He said most of his constituents are upset with illegal immigration and the state and federal government response.

He said he didn’t expect any further controversy over his comment. “I think it’s over,” he said.

Last month, another state legislator, Rep. Connie O’Brien, R-Tonganoxie, apologized after referring to a college student as an illegal immigrant because of her “olive complexion.”

Legislators this session are considering several controversial bills that supporters say will decrease illegal immigration.

One of those, House Bill 2372, would establish provisions similar to an Arizona law enacted last year.

But the House Judiciary Committee on Monday tabled the bill on a 12-8 vote.

Rep. Pat Colloton, R-Leawood, made the motion to table, saying the bill was too broad. It would have allowed law enforcement to check the status of people they reasonably suspected of being illegal immigrants, instead of requiring “probable cause.”

“This is an invitation to racial profiling,” she said.

The bill would also require state agencies and contractors to make a good faith effort to avoid hiring illegal immigrants using the federal E-Verify system. But Colloton said the way the bill was written it could have shut down charitable organizations that had unknowingly hired an illegal immigrant.

Colloton said that the bill could be reconsidered but that the vote on Monday to table the measure sends a message that it needs to be changed.

Also, an apt observation about Peck "types" made in the LJ World that I have seen in SW Kansas as well:

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2011/mar/14/legislators-comment-illegal-immigration-criticized/

This, I gather, is a problem with state legislatures everywhere. There's a certain type of gregarious backslapping dummy who has no real viable skill except to get himself (it's usually men) elected to a low-level job that most locals don't really pay close attention to. They know they hate the "legislature" but they're pretty sure they like Virgil Peck. And the Pecks of the world, despite their all-pervading mediocrity, are convinced they're the smartest people in the world. It's an ugly mix, made more visible by the fact that there's often a reporter or two on the statehouse beat to publicize the more egregious gaffes.

That's insane. The hogs are here legally.

...not on a national stage, there's a slight difference. But I also don't think the guy was really serious. Rather, he's a dumbass who said something stupid thinking he was being funny. Donna Brazille is serious and has no problem stating her beliefs. Which, by the way, I don't have a problem with. She should be able to say whatever she wants too, just like this dickhead in Kansas. In America, you have the right to be stupid. The difference between Brazille and the Kansas Dumbass is...well, one's black and one's white. That's about all the difference. Neither thinks they said anything wrong and both have their detractors and defenders.

They are both as stupid as the other.
