Looks like rain is about 4 innings away

pretty soon we'll be praying for the rain to hurry up and get here. Only thing we don't know yet is if we want the 4th inning rained out or the 6th inning rained out.

Royals better get a lead then

This game isn't even going to make it to the 5th. The leading edge of the storm is almost at 435.

The only way this game gets played is if they stick it out and try to finish at midnight or 1am or something.

Demonpenz

yep ryan, beltran and butler are carbon copies

alnorth
04-14-2011, 07:25 PM
It looks even worse if you animate the storm to see how its moving. The leading edge is twisting up counter-clockwise in such a way that it looks like it'll hit KC just right so that its a long, long period of sustained rain.

No rain delays!
Posted via Mobile Device

I'm pretty sure there won't be a delay. Looking at weather.com's cool little 6-hour progression, it looks like once the rain hits, it wont stop until several hours after midnight.

Once they stop it, this game will be done, they are just trying to get to the 6th inning.

edit: actually, because of that they might be more likely to man up and play in the rain until it gets too bad. Everyone on the field knows the game wont restart.

The really nasty rain might not get there until after the 5th, so there's a chance.

FYI, we still need to pitch. It used to be that if the visitors took the lead after 5 and then the game got called, they were just screwed and the home team wins.

Not anymore, they changed that years ago. If the Mariners take the lead and the inning does not finish, then the game will be suspended and resumed.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe the Royals won't be a bad team this year.

The last time I began to wonder that, they went on some silly soul-crushing 9-game losing streak.

It won't happen, but it makes you wonder what they would do at the deadline if they were somehow still in it

Lets not get the hopes up yet. Just sit back and enjoy them not sucking as bad as we thought they would so far. Its fun

Yeah, but...

What if Gordon has an insanely monstrous rebound season? What if the whole team ends the year with an 80-85% success rate at stealing bases? What if Cabrera is a beast at the plate and a wizard up the middle? What if Escobar turns in a gold-glove season and becomes passable at the plate with faint flashes of power? What if Getz is a legit league-average second baseman? What if Butler has another solid season that we often take for granted? What if Kila heats up? What if Kendall never comes back? What if PEna and Treanor do not embarass themselves out there? What if Betemit is solid at the plate, if not on the field? What if Chen has another flukey "he should not have won that many games" Houdini-like season? What if Davies doesn't suck? What if Montgomery, Hosmer, and Moustakas are all ready to rock and roll in June? What if Frenchy is good?

OK that last one is insanely optimistic, but what if Frenchy is only a little below-average and continues to kill baserunners every week?

I dont know why the radio guys are puzzled, its clear to me what happened. The umps decided to give Seattle the 8th inning, but its raining too hard to go all 9. Seattle failed, so game over.

To add insult to injury, *I THINK* the final score will be 5-zip with a 7-inning shutout, and the top of the 8th won't count.

Odorizzi was considered by many to be the best prospect long-term. Escobar was a top shelf prospect before last year though. Cain was the one who wowed all the scouts in Spring Training.

I am happier than hell with Escobar so far. Maybe I'm greedy, but I'd like him to hit as well, but his glove is the real fricken deal. He may end the year with a negative WAR at the plate, but a very valuable player when his defense is included.

I'm about ready to inform Christian Colon that his future is at second base.
