I haven't tried that, but I'm a big fan of the Mango Habanero they make.

Mrs. Renfro is good as is Frontera.

I really like Herdez Salsa Casera as well. It tastes fairly fresh.

I make my own salsa pretty much non stop, though, and rarely rely on store bought salsa.

This one has everything I like. If you're aiming for a pure vinegery schorcher that send you into spasms of pain, you'll initially be disappointed. It has tons of garlicy, curr-esque flavor to it, and the heat comes on slow, builds to a high threshold, and sticks around.

Doing the chip and dip thing, you'll down 4-5 chips without complaint, then 2 minutes later your head will be sweating enough to put out a grease fire.

OTOH, and what I really like, I can make a 'bigger'n'yerhead' burrito and put JUST ONE TABLESPOON in it and it'll flavor the whole thing, and still leave you sweating by the end.

I should also give props to, of all places, Aldi's jalapeņo salsa. Not really hot, though there is some heat there. But it's the good fresh tomato based, thickener free, type that you get at restaurants. As such, they keep it in the refrigerated section back with the 'gourmet' cheeses and hummus.

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh178/bannanas555/salsa.pngI usually go for the pace. No hotter than medium, thought. Different parts of my tongue will swell up if I eat anything too spicy (true story). It can be pretty painful.

I tend to lean towards this rather than salsa though:

Do not under any circumstance buy this shit, I was forced to eat this crap on SB sunday due to the store being sold out of everything else. It was fuggin disgusting, was probably the most unnatural thing I have ever ingested, seemed like melted plastic with orange coloring.

WTF on recommending this garbage?

I also think Herdez is shit, I think people get wooed by the mexican name, tasted like shit to me.

Nothing will ever beat homemade from the garden.

They also sell a salsa in the refrigerated section that has huge flavor including lots of garlic. It's mildly hot and has no jalapeņo that I know about. It's not in a jar, but in a plastic tub. That means it hasn't been heated, but made fresh.

It's been available for a few years now. I've picked it up at the Sun Fresh in Westport, the Price Chopper on Vivian, and the HyVee on Englewood. I'm not sure how far out into the metro it goes.

Damn we don't get this in CA. I like their garlic salsa.

To me any refirgerated salsa is much better than bottled. Less preservatives, just tastes a lot fresher.

The one bottled sauce I really miss from KC though is Spanish Gardens.

Yes once I had refrigerated I have never like the bottled, there is no reason to at all. Its the same price, much much better and as you said heathier. The only fall back is it does not last as long, but that does not matter with me, its gone before it goes bad hahaha. That brand is awesome, every type has been good.

Yeah, might be pure luck you didn't get the same jalapeņo salsa I did. They are all packaged similarly with just the color of of the label to differentiate them. They have like a mango, sweet onion and artichoke garlic besides the jalapeņo.

The latter's probably what you got
