It's important to note that most of those who predicted the planet's demise by the year 2000 are either dead or they've revised their predictions.

Well, if some laws and regulations weren't passed along the line, some of those predictions could have come true. Think what the cars were in the 70's and what they're now. Same thing with plants and factories.

I don't see a single one that would have come true. That being said, I will agree that some of the initiatives have been a good thing.

I would think some of those stupid comments have knocked many of them out of the "smart educated" category...considering this was their main area of expertise/study.
