Still think Marty is one of the best coaches in the history of game in terms of coaching players to overachieve.

this draft had subpar talent for the most part, with exception to a handful of players.

but the Chargers are having one of the worst drafts so far.

This. It's an awfully big coincidence that both Carl and AJ had a drastic drop off in drafting quality after Marty left.

Fuck you buck. AJ Smith hasn't been around 20 years yet. After three iterations of the "5 year plan" you can start complaining.

I don't know about AJ Smith, but Carl got a lot of credit for the Chiefs improvement, when in fact, much of the foundation for that turnaround for the Chiefs was laid before Carl and Marty.

Marty brought discipline and toughness that this team lacked, and the one good pick that Carl made brought an energy and enthusiasm that this team lacked.

But beyond DT, Will Shields and Tony Gonzalez, Carl drafted crap for the better part of 20 years.

What is the Horseface thinking no DL in this deep draft for Denver ? They were 31st against the run only BUF was worse.

Von Miller and Rahim Moore won't help against the run at all.

WTH is Pioli thinking changing the Chiefs to a 3-4 defense and three years later he hasn't brought in the most important piece to run it?

How dare anyone say that with Carl classics like Jrezelle Jenkins, Junior Siavii, Rashaan Shehee, and the DB no-INT-in-NFL from Oklahoma whose name I'm mercifully drawing a blank on.

Berry, Moeaki and Lewis look like they could be a big part of this moving forward.Sheffield was intriguing in camp before his injury, too.

We could have an extremely deep front 7 if things play out the right way, and while several of them were here, they're often asked to do different things thanks to the system change, which is I think a testament to first the player assessment in 2009, as well as the coaching since. Something that I think is often overlooked: Pioli could have bailed on someone like, say, Hali, or on DJ.

(Still missing the nose of course....)

He might shave his balls to draft a beast like Marcell Dareus, who the Donks laughably passed on. He'd probably puke if he had to pay a 230lb SAM LB $60M.

The great thing about homeristic dumbassery is the flip flop that you can make on opinions.

Wasn't all that long ago that Dareus was the only guy that you wanted to see the Donkeys draft.

But now that it's Miller, it's the greatest pick EVAH!

I was on the Dareus bandwagon for a good few months but the last week before the draft I said I would be happy with Dareus, Fairley, Miller, or Peterson.

I was actually pimping the shit out of Miller the night before the draft.

IMO, Gilchrist goes to free safety.
Mouton looks like he can carry a bit more weight and he has fluid hips to cover the TE as an ILB but I wouldn't trust him on running downs. He could lose some weight and play SS.
Like I said, I have no idea what they'll do with him. :banghead:

Proof in the pudding is in the second round. Does AJ reach for fifth round talent looking for upside?

B_Ambuehl
04-30-2011, 08:57 PM
AJ is the anti Al Davis.

He judges people ONLY off of game film looking for very specific qualities and totally disregards speed and athleticism. Thus his board is usually significantly different than everyone elses. Word is they thought Mouton was the most aggressive downhill linebacker on the board - someone that could take on blocks and fill the role of Stephen Cooper playing their Mike linebacker. He did lead the Big 10 in tackles. He drafted a 5'11 receiver that only runs a 4.7 40, but he's a "football player" and the best route runner in the draft according to them.
