So, why a game thread today, especially since the aptly-nicknamed SOS is pitching today and the Royals will likely get drilled?

In a few hours I will have watched or listened to over 8 hours of NFL draft coverage. All that will be left to do is bicker about our picks for a few more hours. Time for a break with some bad baseball.

Meanwhile, in the minors Noel Arguelles is pitching today. So is Mazarro, but he's not much of a prospect. Rey Navarro is not high on the prospect lists, but after 70 AB, he's having such a silly 1.100+ OPS year in a pitcher's park that he's elevated from "we traded for him, but he probably wont do much" up to "huh, thats interesting. Wonder if he'll keep it up"

DeezNutz

SOS has been more dependable than our "ace."

Yeah, yeah, I know. Small sample size blah, blah, blah...

Beautiful day in KC. Ball should be traveling well. Pitches should be breaking. Crowd won't be as big as yesterday, but I think it will be a great night. Some of my friends were bitching about the lines yesterday with it being dollar night and FWF but I think most kc people aren't used to lines for anything at the K. It's Hosmer time. Lets get him up here.

So June 2nd Montgomery and Duffy come up? What are they gonna do w/ Crow? Just keep on letting him pitch relief? I almost think they should move him to AAA as an audition for a SP. If he performs well, bring him up later in the year as a SP.

That was insane. I have never seen anyone tag and score on a pop fly caught by an infielder unless it was deep in fould territory or somethin.

That one is a double kick in the balls.

1. Aviles MUST make that throw. There's no fucking excuse for that shit.
2. The first baseman (not using Billy's name, b/c that would be a contradiction) MUST be able to make the routine pick.

So much fail on a single play.

Gordon has been hitting the ball 400 feet for outs as well. So that is good he stuck with the level contact swing because it would be easy for him to go back to old alex and try to yank the ball.

Yeah, he seems to have improved greatly since being moved to LF. I don't mind him coming in to play 1st like he did tonight but if there are any inklings to start him at 1st then we might as well bring up Hosmer and be done with it.

We know it's just a matter of time before we do that anyway.

I'm saying: Gordon is an arrogant mother****er (which is a good thing for athletes). He's established his swagger. There's no statistical way of proving it, other than to say that I've seen guys go through the same thing.

Wow. Chicago and Minnesota are both 9 games out of first. As the old saying goes, you cant win the division in April, but you can lose it.

At what point do we start to say that the White Sox and Twins are both out, and we're only trying to miraculously fight off the Tigers and Indians?

Wave 2:

SP: Noelle Arguelles (LHP)
SP: Jake Odorizzi (RHP)
SP: Tim Melville (RHP, still inconsistent but very talented)
SP: Jason Adam (RHP)
SP: Robinson Yambati (RHP)
SP: Yordano Ventura (RHP)
RP: Kevin Champman (LHP - probably will rise quicker than rest of the group)

MI: Rey Navarro (gotta include him at the moment, considering his hot start)
3B: Cheslor Cuthbert (I'm VERY excited about Cuthbert, have been since they signed him)
OF: Brett Eibner

Pretty crazy that you can already identify that many guys (of whom up to seven could be top 100 types by the end of the year) at A+ ball or lower.

I'd expect them to add at least two studs in the draft, too.
