A very good pick with a 6th round selection

Powe declared Sunday that he is the best nose tackle in the draft, a position that is often less than glorious. Nose tackles are often tasked with taking on multiple blockers, in an effort to free up the other defenders to make plays. Even in passing situations, they are usually confined to simply constricting the pocket. However, Powe said he has no problem with these assignments.

"I think I push the pocket well, take on double-teams well," Powe said. "(I'm) a guy who is dependable and willing to lower his shoulder for the team."
With more NFL teams switching to the 3-4 scheme, space eaters like Powe are in high demand. But Powe doesn't want to cast himself as a one-trick pony.

"I can play the three-technique, so I don't think I'm just a 3-4 guy," Powe said. "I mean, that is one of my strengths, my biggest strength as far as playing the nose guard, but I think I can most definitely play in the 3-4 or 4-3 as well. "

Pioli has been taking his vitamins. Dude just opened up and blasted the rest of the league. Some of these GMs didn't even look like they were paying attention based on their weird picks. Pioli is still digging deep late in the draft. Phenomenal.

Dont have unrealistic expectations about the kid. He probably wont be a starter right away.

Its gonna take some time for him to get to speed, even with Romeo working with him.

I think that we should give him somewhere between 10-20 games to get to speed...more if the lockout continues and players cant work with coaches.

A lot of people said the same thing about Kendrick Lewis as well, however, this coaching staff seems to ask rookies to perform at a high level from the opening snap of the season, their use of Javier Arenas also underlines this idea. With both Ron Edwards and Shaun Smith set to be free agents next year, it is at least possible that Powe could be seeing some snaps as early as next year.
