43rd anniversary...the real memorial day

Today is the 43rd anniversary of my first fire fight and the death of a good guy in a jungle a long way from here. I have called his daughter (even when she was little) every year since then on this day to tell her that her dad is still being missed.

On the phone she told me that she had her first grandchild a couple of weeks ago...they named him Christopher.

So Chris the elder, here's to you, bud.

Your legacy lives on. It's all any of us can really ask.
