The design is fine.

However, why is there padding at the fence above the wall?

If that doesn't get stuck in the padding and bounces off the fence, Melky scores.

And Pena did a hell of a job on that play at the plate.

I disagree, but I'm also not certain. I know he reached down, but I think he was reaching down behind the fence near his seat after he deflected it out. The radio guys also had no idea what happened after seeing replay.

We'd need more aces if the fences were in, this is a pitcher's park, and you are wanting to convert it to a hitter's park.

If the fences were in, we'd be losing games 8-5 instead of 4-1. All things being equal, I prefer games that dont last over 3.5 hours, so keep the fences back.

Al Bundy
06-03-2011, 08:13 PM
So you prefer to watch our guys give up 6 runs, mostly walk induced while Belly Butler flies out to center field? I really don't know that you could ever turn the K into a hitters park. However, if we are going to keep the 1970's no homeruns style we should really just put all of the scouting, drafting, trading and free agents into pitching.

What you need in this ballpark is speed in the outfield and speed at the top of the order.

And, if you can get it, speed at the bottom of the order.

Sprinkle in aggressive but smart base running and solid pitching, and you can get a lot of wins.

For some reason you think having the fences back hurts only us, and pulling them in would help only us. This is probably because you vividly recall every warning track out and forget those same outs we record.

There's no reason at all to believe we would be a better team with the fences in. All we'd accomplish is longer high-scoring games with about the same record, but not as many under 3 hours.

Clearly you want guys that get on base.

But if I had a choice between a Willie Wilson and Alex Gordan to lead off, I'm taking Wilson.

And you can not substitute speed on defense.

Now, if that speedy outfielder is a defensive liability, then you don't wnat that.

But if I have the choice between two equal defenders, the one with speed is getting the nod.

And Kaufman has a lot of ground to cover out there.

There is nothing that could be done to this ball park to make it a winning ball park. It is much like Bannister Mall was, greatly designed for the 70's and 80's but it had no chance of ever being able to be brought in to the 21st century. It really needed to be treated like Bannister Mall and bull dozed.

heh, Bannister Mall was such a friggen disaster. Anyone who sunk money into that trying to bring it back almost deserved to lose it.

I had a store there from 94-2000. It had no chance of turning around after 99.

Is that the first runner attempting a steal thrown out by the Royals this year?

Pena has had a hell of a game tonight.

Both catchers threw out quite a few the first month of the season, but not so many since

Pathetic effort

There is nothing that could be done to this ball park to make it a winning ball park. It is much like Bannister Mall was, greatly designed for the 70's and 80's but it had no chance of ever being able to be brought in to the 21st century. It really needed to be treated like Bannister Mall and bull dozed.
just silly

You can move the fences in or out to suit the type of team you have but it's the team that makes a ball park a 'winner'.

Pretty feeble attempt by the Royals tonight. Losing the first two makes it so now we have to pray for the Splitt

Didn't see any effort on the Royals part.

Relying on ole Hoch to attempt to salvage a series split tomorrow? That is a loss.

Ahh. Glad to see that I'm not the only one with vision problems tonight.

I still cant believe I didn't notice that the guy picked the ball up from the top of the pad.

I wish the pac 10 plane would land.

What makes this funny is that while listening to all our bumblefuck pitchers get hit around, I actually wondered to myself when Chen would be back.

I was at the game and still haven't seen a replay. Was the call correct? Live it looked like it went over the LF's glove and into the fence for what I thought was a homerun. But it was hard to see and I was sitting between 3rd and left field.

It was impossible to tell live. On replay, it was a very clear and obvious ground-rule double. The umpires got it right. The fan had nothing to do with it, it was stuck on top of the pad, the fan saw it sitting there, and just picked up his souvenir.

edit: oh and by the way, it has to go over that little fence to be a home run. Hitting that little fence isn't good enough.

Cool, the fan didn't touch it from what I saw, someone to his left pointed it out and the LF'r put his hands up in the air. Kind of killed the momentum. Whole different ballgame if it actually would have went out
