What a bunch of douche bags. Are you fucking serious? The guy actually said it was the priority to save property not people?? For fucking real? Get the fuck out!

So the foreign dick basically said, I don't care how many of the voters disagree this is how it is. Democracy in action....LMAO

They're doing this for fires? For protecting the public? Cripes!
Never decided by the Judicial branch? Has there ever been a case to determine this? They NEED a court to tell them too?
If it's burning they actually need a key to get in? I wouldn't care. I own a small quadplex of rental units.
This type of thing gets abused if govt has access.

The guy at 1.24 sounds and looks like a giant bullfrog!

Sigh! Another reason why democracy isn't the best form of govt. A republic with a Constitution based on natural rights is the best form. I bet they voted because it was commercial property.

This seems completely unnecessary.

In warrant and emergency situations the cost of the door/lock is paltry compared to the 4th amendment concerns which come into play with handing a city employee a dungeon master key set.

4th Amendment Right being thrown under a bus. I imagine if this ordinance continues the city council will find themselves under one too come election time.

Has Hitler been reborn through the foreign guy?

Well, I think getting some keys is a little removed from shoving people in ovens; let's not be hasty.

I don't see how this stands up in court?

Commercial property or not, it is still private property.

Just give the city a howitzer.

One size fits all and entry is no problem.

Heh I'd do one of three things....

A. Move my business
B. Tell them to GFY I'm not giving you my keys regardless of what you say
C. Put in a biometric system that has no keys and have no mechanical backup

Businesses need to refuse to comply and force the issue into court. When it is ruled illegal they need to recall the foreign bastard.

He answers the first number, just spoke to him. Don't do anything stupid like threaten him but feel free to call him a fascist and let him know what you think about his stomping on the constitution.

I liked the woman who said, "If my house is on fire I'm not going to worry too much about you breaking the door to put out the fire."

How does anyone think this is a good idea?

By the time they get the master key and fumble around for the correct key, your business will be toast!!

If Cedar Falls can harness the power of stupidity, they will emerge from this debate with a lifetime of free energy.

All you need is B

Its totally unenforceable. Odd thing is I do have keys to the apartment buildings I have on the outside of the buildings in a special box so the post man can deliver the mail to the mailboxes inside. Been that way for years.

I told him what I think of his law and that I'm making the media aware of his ordinance (which I did) and he hung up on me. Hopefully the local or national media puts pressure on the city council and makes everyone aware of the BS law.

It all depends on who they have in their pockets. I tried. The locals need to raise hell about this, I'm not even a resident of Iowa.
