Soooo, you'd trade that championship in 85 for a couple of meaningless, heart breaking defeats?? There are generations of Cubbie fans that don't know what that feeling is like and back then all it probably got was a golf clap from the folks in suits in attendence.

Harry was really losing it. I remember watching a Cubs game and the call by Carey went something like this ...

Here's the delivery ... *sound of bat strilking the ball*

There's a drive ......... to deep center field ......... and it's ......... caught, by the second baseman.

That's fairly typical of Cubs arrogance. The fans are the same way.

Considering that you'd have to be around 107 to have actual memories of the last Cubs world series win, and in your mid 60s to remember the last Cubs world series loss, you'd think they'd be more humble, or at the very least a bit more quiet. But they aren't.

Opposite of immaterial. The ump said he didn't and whether he caught it or not isn't the point. The time he took to show the ball to the ump cost him 2-3steps by the runner on replay on WGN. Had he not assumed he'd have thrown the guy out and they wouldn't have now scored that run. Don't assume make the play.

omg... what does matter is the ump said he didn't catch the ball. So then the time he took to show it to the ump cost us the out he would have gotten if he'd just thrown it. I'm not saying the ump was right I'm saying you can't assume anything especially on a close play.

That is it in a nutshell. This is a bad team with no pitching and when the defense makes a mistake it is magnified, simply because all of the pitchers are mentally weak and can't make up for it.
