It's because gravy is made with animal fat, which happens to be delicious.

Actually, this is not true unless it's pan gravy. Things like gravy for turkey don't use fat. That's why fat separators were invented.

No it doesn't, if it's done right. It's basically the liquid from the turkey, sans fat, with a little flour and simmered to reduce. No fat.

You can make turkey gravy without fat, just like you can make beef gravy without fat. That's not generally how it's done, though.

That's biscuit gravy, or something similar. Adding that much fat and flour is not turkey gravy. Turkey gravy is simple and thin.

I'm sorry, but we're at an impasse here. I make turkey about once every 3-4 weeks, and I switch between juices and gravy about half the time. Turkey gravy uses fat. You can make a fat free version if you wish, though.

Cornstarch makes things thick and gummy, especially in a gravy. Turkey gravy is thin and incredibly tasty.

I don't use a lot, and thin it down well with hot water...but your right, it will thicken it up too much if your not carefull

Sorry. Turkey gravy is just reduced juices with a little body. It's mostly just juice, like an au jus. It shouldn't be dumped on a piece of turkey like gravy on a biscuit.

I made a thread aboot how to make a good gravy 2 thanksgivings ago and my only response involved antifreeze.
This has either been a very long off-season or a successful plea to get the Planeteers to discuss gravy.
Possibly both…
Nice timing though, eh? :thumb:

Turkey gravy can have fat. Stewie is making normal turkey gravy, but he's using a fat separator to lessen the amount of fat in his gravy. That's the only difference here.
