The brilliant Barack Obama (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/07/11/obama_warns_best-selling_authors_youre_not_off_the_hook.html)

"We weren't balancing the budget off of middle-class families and working-class families. And we weren't letting hedge fund managers or authors of best-selling books off the hook. That is a reasonable proposition."

Honestly, how many "best-selling authors" are there in America? 100-200 maybe?

We're borrowing $58,000 a second, hope these bastards can write faster.

Wait, what is he talking about letting authors of best sellers off the hook? Is writing a bestseller some kind of moral sin now that much be punished?

What am I missing here?

It sounds like he can use the vast number of them to get the budget under control, and not relying on the smaller number of people classified as middle class

Judging from his pause and stare right before the authors remark, maybe Glenn Beck or Ann Coulter [George R.R. Martin?] was in the press room.
