NFL players ratify new CBA
Posted by Michael David Smith on August 4, 2011, 4:42 PM EDT

The NFL’s players have voted today to ratify a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, allowing the league year to begin.
Jay Glazer of FOX Sports had the first report that the deal has been approved.
“Just got word from a source they have received enough votes! Let the league year begin,” Glazer wrote on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#%21/Jay_Glazer). “The players have voted to ratify the new CBA!”
It had to clear a few last hurdles today — including testing for human growth hormone (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/04/hgh-testing-part-of-new-cba-testing-expected-to-begin-this-season/) and appeals of league discipline for personal-conduct policy violations — but the bottom line is that the NFL year is now underway.
