Obama said today that "when Congress returns from recess..." they should do something about our getting downgraded.

Now, don't you think that something like this would demand suspending recess and getting people back to work to get this shit straight??

Meanwhile, we are going to get another round of QE. The second round was an absolute failure. Can't wait to see what the 3rd round brings.

What are they going to do? Renegotiate the debt ceiling debacle?

The downgrade was coming no matter what they did. The present course is untenable and everyone knows it. Adding $2+ trillion in debt with cuts that won't happen for years, if ever, is a joke. No one wants to buy our debt since they know it's repaid in future dollars that are going to be worth less and less.

Would Obama accept a 4 trillion cut now?

What are they going to do? Come back and accept a balanced budget? Of course not. They're going to want to raise taxes. They can stay on vacation as far as I'm concerned.

If you would like to protect Americans then we should encourage them to stay away as long as possible.

We only have need for a Super Congress, the rest are on permanent recess.

Would Obama accept a 4 trillion cut now?

Or even more simply, would the congress accept a raise in the debt limit without fanfare back in February or March.

Yes, we need to deal with the deficit. But unnecessarily linking the two issues caused this immediate round of pain.

Obama doesn't need Congress to come back for him to support real cuts and entitlement reform. In fact, if he did pull his head out of his ass long enough to take a breath and support those things Congress may just come running back of their own volition. But as it is Barry's just doing his political dance and it would be another useless circle jerk yielding nothing of substance.

Seeing as how debt is the issue, linking the two was exactly the right move.
