I tried to use Rainmeter, but it is far too complex for me.

I'm really looking for a few good desktop apps:

1) that displays my RSS feeds
2) picture of the day (the bing one is not good)
3) quote of the day
4) my selected stocks

igoogle??

That's good and all, but it would be ideal if it were all on the desktop. I can live with igoogle though.

If you're using those already and aren't happy with the selection, then yeah, iGoogle's about as good as it gets IMO. Do your RSS feeds through Google Reader and your stocks through Google finance. Not sure about the quote of the day and pic of the day stuff, but I'd imagine someone out there has done widgets for that.
