View Full Version : Chiefs What's the #1 thing you'll be watching for during Friday's game?

I'll be watching the defensive line probably more than anything.

By far the most fascinating battle is who's going to play those three DL positions.

I'll be watching to see if Cassel has enough talent to bounce it off the scoreboard and back into the awaiting arms of Baldwin.

I want to see Baldwin teabag some n00b defensive back in mid jump as he's catching the ball. I also desperately want to watch Powe and Bailey in action. These two players have a scary good chance at starting at least a game or two later in the year. I can't wait to see what they can do in their first NFL game experience.

Jonathan Baldwin - WR - ChiefsFirst-round pick Jonathan Baldwin has reportedly shown an "absolute inability" to deal with press coverage so far in Chiefs camp.
Observed Nick Wright of 610 Kansas City, "When he's been jammed, I haven't seen him catch one." Wright concedes that Baldwin has impressed when faced with off coverage, but defensive coordinators aren't dumb enough to let him get a running start. It's notable that the K.C. Star has predicted Jerheme Urban will start opposite Dwayne Bowe this season. Steve Breaston would be the slot receiver, relegating Baldwin to a No. 4 receiver role.

Both lines. It doesn't matter how good our skill players are if either line sucks. Without improvement along the lines we have no chance to repeat last years successes.

NFL Network had their 2011 Fantasy Football show last night and when they showed a list of the rookies one of the hosts jumped in and said he wanted to get right to Baldwin, the steal of the draft, went on to compare him to a poor man's Randy Moss and even talked about Moss' rookie numbers.

Looking forward to watching him develop.

I have no hopes of seeing much of anything besides a lot of runs. Pretty boring probably. So, the thing to watch for is the rookies. I'd like to also watch Palko and Stanzi, but again, probably not going to be much indication of jack squat. The Defense should be fun to watch I guess.

Overall team speed (defense).

Last season our defense looked like it was a step behind too many plays over the middle. A large part of that seemed to be because they simply weren't sure where they needed to be, but some of it was an absence of athleticism.

With Vrabel gone and some guys like Bailey providing athleticism along the line, we should improve overall athleticism. And w/ a real NT (even young fat bodies like Toribio and Powe), maybe Belcher won't feel the need to crash as much. Maybe he'll be more comfortable in space thus allowing him to react and rely on his athleticism rather than think and hinder himself. Berry should be much better in that regard as well.

With some upgrades in the athletes as well as a better understanding of the scheme, I'm hoping to see the defense flying around out there looking fast and kicking ass. I'm tired of plodders - I want some speed and aggression on that field.

I don't give a shit about the starters this pre-season to be honest you never can tell with pre-season anyway last year we looked like shit. The thing I'm looking for is which backups step up. We'll need to develop depth if we want to compete this year.

I know we won't blitz much (preseason and all) but we should. We should set the tone now.

I wanna see our offense system matically matriculate the ball down the field, and show that they can be effecient in the red zone.

I wanna see our defense not give up any big plays and not allow Josh Freeman to have his way. Really think we have an elite secondary backfield that's going to allow the front guys on the line and our LBs do extrordinary things. Hope to see some flashes of great things to come.
