Fan violence mars Raiders-49ers game
Posted by Michael David Smith on August 21, 2011, 7:54 AM EDT

Saturday night’s Raiders-49ers preseason game was marred by violent incidents involving fans, including one man being badly injured in a beating in a Candlestick Park restroom, and two men getting shot in the parking lot afterward.

A 24-year-old man is at San Francisco General Hospital with what have been referred to as life-threatening injuries after he was shot following the game.

The victim was wearing a “F- the 49ers” T-shirt, and police detained a suspect who was wearing Raiders apparel.

A 20-year-old man was also shot and hospitalized with superficial wounds to his face. The two shooting victims were found separately, and it is not clear whether the shootings were connected.

And a 26-year-old man was reportedly taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was assaulted and knocked unconscious in a restroom during the game.

Violent incidents involving fans have been a particularly sensitive subject in the Bay Area this year after San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow was severely beaten by two men in Los Angeles Dodgers gear outside Dodger Stadium. Five months later, Stow remains hospitalized in serious condition with brain injuries.

There could be an entire news channel dedicated to reporting Raiders fans that get shot.

It would be a 24/7 network.

Seriously, I'm willing to bet that a Raiders fan gets shot every 10 minutes.

Gang bangers...supposedly a Raider fan shot a Raider fan. Class action. Norteno vs. Sureno.

While I'd be sad that we would only have a 2 team division, if California quietly slipped off into the ocean and sank to the bottom, I would fail to shed a tear.

So a Raiders fan shot another Raiders fan. Sounds about right.

What a stupid reason to put yourself in harms way. Not only are you not getting paid for it but the people who you're "defending" don't give a shit whether you or your family live or died.

Idiots.

Raiders CEO: Don’t stereotype our fans

ROFL ROFL ROFL Is this biotch serious?

Posted by Michael David Smith on August 22, 2011, 10:53 AM EDT

Oakland’s Black Hole has a reputation as the most dangerous place to be in any NFL stadium, and even though the violence that broke out among both Raiders fans and 49ers fans on Saturday night was at a 49ers home game at Candlestick Park, there were plenty of comments along the lines of, “Same old Raider fans.”

Raiders CEO Amy Trask has heard those comments, and she’s not happy about it.

“I’m aware of the perception, and I don’t believe the perception is the reality,” Trask said. “Stereotypes are insidious. It’s so simple to stereotype Raiders fans. It’s an easy story. If you are hearing frustration coming through in my voice it’s because there’s frustration in my voice.”Talk about living in denial :shake:

Trask is on the NFL’s security committee, and she says safety of fans at NFL stadiums is a priority for every NFL team. But she said it’s not more of an issue in Oakland than it is in other stadiums, calling most of the crowd at Raiders games “terrific people and terrific fans.”

Although one person in Raiders gear was identified as a “person of interest,” there are no suspects in custody after multiple violent incidents at Saturday night’s game. Three fans who attended remain hospitalized, one who was beaten in a restroom during the game and two who were shot in a parking lot afterward.
