That was pretty atrocious. Arizona State did everything possible to hand that game away and Pinkel and the defense sent it back faster than a maggot-infested filet mignon.

Calling timeouts to ice your own kicker is stupid, but it's not nearly as dumb as taking your foot off the gas once you get into long FG range.

Anyone who has watched a year or two of NFL games knows that strategy almost always loses. Why you would do it there is just mind boggling.

That said, I can't be too upset about losing a game like that, because we had no business winning it, and our defense is absolutely atrocious. The Oklahoma schools might hang 70 on it.

I'm happy with the heart the offense showed and the _efense did make some big stops in the 4th quarter, but it's still the same shit, different year.

Not having a jumbo package cost us against Nebraska last year. It cost us the Ok. State game in '08, it almost cost us the OU game last year, and it made a large difference in costing us this game.

Yeah, you may use it 5 times a game. You also use it during five of the most important plays in the game. It's just pigheaded not to have one at this point.

Settling for two FGs in the first half when you have G2G from the 1 and 4th and inches from the 7 would have made this game a win had Missouri simply converted one of them.

Point spreads are meaningless. The fact is we got Pinkeled tonight like we used to about seven years ago. You really think we will be OK? Shit dude OU and OSU will put up 60 on that D and Baylor will most likely put up 50. We will beat ISU, KU, KSU and the rest of the conference games we will have a hard time with. Well, we'll drop out the Top 25, but not too far. ASU was ranked in the coaches poll and nearly ranked in the AP. And it's not like we were favored to win.

All in all a major bummer, but it could have been worse.

Not bad for a soph in his second start in a hostile environment on national TV.

I think I've reached the point where I just can't gnash my teeth over losses like this. This is just who Pinkel is. He's done a very good job of rebuilding the program, he seems to run a pretty clean one, he's a good recruiter (by no means great), but he's just a bad game day coach.

Granted, there are not many good ones in CFB, which is why they are there, but he makes a number of particularly awful, illogical, and inconsistent decisions.

The really disconcerting part is that we've got a really unique window for success due to the rarity of the talent produced by the state this year, 3 recruits in the top 50, and it's pretty unlikely we end up with any of them.

I wouldn't call it purgatory, but I'd be willing to bet that this team is stuck in that perennial 7-9 win vacuum. We don't have the North to feast on anymore, and we can't dodge one of OU or Texas anymore.

I just caught the end of the game tonight. I thought it was impressive that MU ended up by losing by such a small margin on the road with a first year QB.

It is extremely difficult to win games with a first time QB in college football. This was witnessed by anyone who watched KU's season last year.

Franklin had some great looking numbers and with a chance to win with a FG at the end of regulation it's hard to say that this was a disappointment for the Tigers.

I think I'll check out the replay on ESPN.com in the morning to really analyze Franklin's performance. But it appears just by reading the recaps that the kid made some tremendous leaps from the lukewarm response he was given in Columbia last weekend.

That being said, not losing a non-con game since 2005 is pretty damn impressive.

After having some time to let last nights game soak in there were at least a few good points.

Franklin took a gigantic step forward in his maturation process last night. He showed that he can throw the ball, albeit not every well wtith touch yet.

Josey looks to be a really good option out of the backfield, if we just let him touch the ball more than 9 carries.

Franklin utilized the dump off pass to the RB while he was on the move which netted nice yards.

The youh WRs stepped up. Nice game by Lucas and a really nice catch by Washington.

The Oline played better against a better opponent which was great to see.

Now for the not so good

Too many damn penalities

Franklin needs to hang in the pocket longer.

Yost needs to learn to call a more intelligent game. We could have ran the ball and got a few more yards and made that game winning kick shorter. Instead we tried to gain a bigger chunck of yards and damn near threw the ball to the ASU DB.

We saw the I Form and under center in the Miami OH game when we were coming out from the endzone...hey Yost and Pinkel, it actually works going into the endzone as well.

Pass D and Pass rush are terrible at this point. Neither impressed in the Miami game and tonight was just look at what is going to be an issue when we face Big 12 teams like OU, OSU, A&M and Baylor.

Overall, the game was a blast to watch. I bit frustrating at times but some good things did come of it. Hopefully, we can now beat up on the soft portion of the non con and work some things out and maybe get a few guys healthy.

Go Tigers

Franklin looked better than last week and it was nice to see them not give up when they were down by 14. I will never understand why we don't use a different package from 1st and goal. FG's from the red zone have killed and will continue to kill this team.

It was amazing how much better Franklin looked from last week. He is going to continue to have his ups and downs this season, but I think he will be a solid player. I still think we relied on him way too much though, we needed to get Josey more carries. It sucks that our top two RBs are already injured.

Secondary was atrocious. Had bad flashbacks of Reesing to Meier. We have inexperienced players in the secondary but they are going to have to improve dramatically. It would help if the front four could actually get a pass rush though. Hopefully Jacquies Smith will be back for the OU game.

I am still going with an 8 win season. OU is going to smoke us, OSU probably will too. The rest of our games will probably be a toss up. We really need to get our injured players back, especially Ruth and Smith.
