I Hate this holliday.

I am obviously being misunderstood here. I am meaning no disrespect to the people that died. Just the dog and pony show and how it seems (to me)
to affect the chiefs. It sucks how things can be taken out of context when in text.

so a neighbor in my aparment complex was saying "how can the chiefs not get up for 9/11".

sorry....I don't get all emotional for "9/11". Sue me.
I don't buy into the 'we will never forget'; not because I'm an asshole, but JFC....how CAN one forget about 9/11. i don't need the NFL to remind me etc.

and before the self-righteous get in my ass, I'm a veteran etc and don't for one second think we've 'forgotten'.

Chiefs got their shit pushed in today. plain and simple.

Seriously, the 2003 Patriots got blown out by the Bills 38-0 or some shit on opening day in 2003. how did that year end for the Patriots?

Hey idiot. the Pats winning the superbowl in 2001 was thought of as a fluke. the fumble against the Raiders and so on. they didnt do well in 2002. so starting off 2003 being shut out by the Bills proves your point how exactly?

Sorry, but those deaths were a decade ago and this game was today. So many people have died in other ways over the past 10 years, yet we stay fixated on this one event. It's time to move on.

This game meant much more to me than any 9/11 since 2001

Thousands died in such a horrible fashion. People on fire jumping out of buildings, innocent victims who picked the wrong flight on the wrong day. Firefighters getting cancer from breathing in toxic gasses from the cleanup. Troops that risked their lives for the sake of fighting the war on terror.
I'm unbelievably fortunate I didn't know any victims or troops who died as a result of the chain reaction of events. But you should be sensitive to the fact that there are probably hundreds of people on this board who did.

So I understand you were trying to be facetious. But don't be defensive about what was said. It was a mistake to say it. Let's move on from that.

Thousands of people will die today, many in horrible fashions. For every person killed in the 9/11 attacks, there is a man, woman, or child who is murdered every day in a horrible fashion. However, most of these people are outside of our borders, which is why many do not care about them. Should we grieve for 9/11 victims more than others simply because they were Americans (some were not)? Seems pretty selfish to me.

Should we grieve for 9/11 victims more than others simply because they were Americans (some were not)? Seems pretty selfish to me.

First of all, the 9/11 attack was one of the largest instances of mass genocide and destruction in American history. So let's not act like this is the same as one person getting killed in a senseless act of violence. Second of all, and more importantly, this isn't just about remembering 9/11 victims. This is for all the people who risked their lives in search of survivors and to defend our freedoms, a fight we're still fighting 10 years ago to this day. Not to mention the devastating toll this had on the psyche of millions of Americans. This was a disaster that devastated not only people, but our economy and our ability to live normal lives ever again. I'm sorry, but I don't think Jewish people are selfish for remembering the Holocaust. Why would it be selfish to remember the events leading up to 9/11?

Trust me, I'm not into gooshy stuff either. If you choose not to remember it, that's fine. But let's not pretend this isn't really important stuff to remember. And, no, I don't think it's an appropriate topic to joke about.
