I can't wait to watch this abortion over again.

I'm very busy at the moment so I'll just leave this quickie here. Watch Cassel completely ignoring a WIDE OPEN Dwayne Bowe so he can throw that god awful pick.

Cassels play isnt really a surprise to anyone here, but the D really shocked me... yeah, they got hung out to dry by waaay too many 3 & outs, but they werent even looking good early.

I lost track of how many times the line got bowled over, Gregg looked like shit, didnt even hear Jacksons name until the 4th, all of the missed tackles... on & on it goes.

I atleast expected that unit to show up & look respectable.

Being "hung out to dry" didn't help them at all. But they still should have done better than that.

Not a single facet of the Chiefs team was prepared to play today, not one.

Coaching, play-calling, STs (even Colquitt sucked today), O, D... nothing. Fundamental tackling, stupid turnovers, stupid penalties.

The Bills simply executed; nothing fancy, and the Chiefs had no right to even be on the same field with them.

I always have the feeling when Cassel drops back, with plenty of time, pumps the ball, mildly freaks, looks around, half scrambles, and either gets sacked or throws a -2 yard pass, that someone somewhere was wide open and Cassel just gave up when his first option wasn't open after 2 seconds.

I hate that feeling.

If the Chiefs have a serious problem with it, they will send it in to the league, or it will go noticed on it's own, and Johnson will be fined. That's the most anyone can do.

And all it does is make a small dent in a millionaire's pocket. While our young star might be out for the season.

i truly do not believe stevie intentionally tried to hurt berry. nobody would want to ruin another's career.

"Cut blocks are mainly legal in the open field where the defender can hurdle the offensive player but not at the line of scrimmage, where the tactic is particularly dangerous, sometimes causing career-threatening injuries."

I don't think he did either. I thought Berry had an ample opportunity to avoid it. Injuries happen, and It pisses me off. He's a player we can't afford to lose, and this game was a shining example of how important he is.

It's more convenient than you realize. I doubt you have a clue how much yardage the Bills gained on account of attacking our shitty reserves that were only playing because Berry went down.

True, and that's where he's separated himself from the pack.

I was a bit thrown off as well. LOTS of 3 man rushes today, and I really feel this team has the tools to bring some pressure with the blitz. I like conservative defensive approaches, but this was a little much for me. Too many 3 man rushes and very vanilla formations.

That was the question I was left with after watching the game. The offense sucking that bad wasn't expected but not surprising but the defense!?!?!

From the coach down way too much talent on that side of the ball to perform so poorly.

Watching this team trying to scrap a QB together for over 2 decades as opposed to even making an attempt at development had made me numb but still surprised by the ineptitude of the defense (especially with Crennel running the show) is still a shock. Especially at home.

Good news: First game after a rough off season

Bad News: The good news is not an excuse to be that bad and the other 31 teams went thru the same off season. Especially on defense.

Romeo is a great DC, but this team has the personnel to run a zone blitzing pressure based scheme and todays defensive gameplan was sad.

We need to be blitrzing at least half the time for this defense to be truly effective.

Short fields and the no time of possession didn't help either.

Those had little to do with it IMO.

Romeo never ran an attacking scheme...his defense is more often than not a 3-4 cover 2.

If he plans on keeping to that and not tweeaking the scheme a little to fit the talent (like all great DCs do) then whats the point of drafting Houston at all? Or Bailey...or tendering Gilberry?

This defense needs to play like Pittsburghs does with this set of players.

At the snap of the ball, more than half of the front 7 needs to be coming forward and being aggressive...not dropping into zones.

Houston is a fucking pass rusher, NOT a coverage backer.

Don't know if this has been discussed, but I thought Charles was going to be out for the season on this one. I believe Cassel almost got McCluster taken out on one of these type of plays as well. :shake:

Yeah, I cringed when his legs looked like they were getting caught under him. Really dodged a bullet there, methinks.

For the record, I don't ever want a QB on this team that wasn't good enough to play in college.

Tom Brady wasn't good enough to be the exclusive starter at Michigan, you may recall...

ACL buckled as soon as he tried to plant and change direction. He's done.

Same as Welker. Non-contact ACL blowout. Sucks!

Until '98, at which point he started every game and won the Orange Bowl. Meanwhile, Cassel was a sixth string tight end...

Yeah, the helmet hit on that knee right before that play had nothing to do with it. You're right, a non-contact blowout.

Hali is coming for you, tight ends.

Yeah, well, we'll see how he deals with Gronk and Hernandez. Brady plus Gronk/Hernandez plus no-Berry isn't likely to be a good combo for the Chiefs to deal with.

Seriously -- Gronk is starting his 2nd year and I don't think there's a TE in the NFL I'd trade him for. He's a beast.

I'm reacting to the GIFs. I didn't see the game. If you guys say it was the helmet hit on the knee on the prior play (I didn't even know WHEN those two players were), then sure.

I've been a Pats fan for 30 years -- you think I haven't seen shitty QB play?

But I know the wounds from yesterday are raw, so I'll let it be.

I'd like to see a Gif of the third down sack on Cassel where the defender sacked him while falling down.

I've got a lot more missed tackles to come...but this is 2009-level poor tackling. It's not quite Tiki Barber Redux but it's close.

I hope to god Powe gets some playing time this week. He deserves it. He looked good at times in pre-season. Let's at least see what we have with him at this stage in his career.

And it would be nice if Baldwin is back. Let's see if we drafted a stud, or a dud.

That kid looks like a young Dexter Morgan. Perhaps Stevie Johnson will end up on his table...
