View Full Version : Chiefs When do we get our first win?

OnTheWarpath58

Since we apparently went from a 9+ win season to the entire season being lost in a single 3 hour period, thought I'd ask the obvious:

When does CP think the Chiefs get their first win of the season?

Poll to follow.

I'm sure they'll pull off some wins but, looking at the schedule, it is tough as hell to figure out where.

I'll say Colts if Manning is still out. Otherwise, it will be the Dolphins.

I'm gonna go out on a homer limb and say we pull a miracle off and rally to beat Detroit via a defensive play and then a nice drive with a succop FG.

In light of current events, I think

L Week 2 - @ Detroit Lions
L Week 3 - @ San Diego Chargers
W Week 4 - Minnesota Vikings
W Week 5 - @ Indianapolis Colts
Week 6 - Bye
L Week 7 - @ Oakland Raiders
L Week 8 - San Diego Chargers (Monday Night)
W Week 9 - Miami Dolphins
W Week 10 - Denver Broncos
L Week 11 - @ New England (Monday Night)
L Week 12 - Pittsburgh Steelers (Sunday Night)
L Week 13 - @ Chicago Bears
L Week 14 - @ New York Jets
L Week 15 - Green Bay Packers
W Week 16 - Oakland Raiders
W Week 17 - @ Denver Broncos

We probably lose a game to the Broncos or both to the Raiders and steal a game during that brutal stretch.

6-10

I voted for the Vikings game, but not much surprises me in the NFL these days... everyone is scared of the Lions, and yeah they look like they're headed in the right direction, but it doesn't mean they're a model of consistency, either. San Diego would be a bit surprising, but again, they aren't a model of consistency early in the season.

I'm generally a big picture person when it comes to the NFL season, at the very least thinking of the season in quarters, due to the amount of parity and number of variables that go into each game.... that said, between yesterday's loss and the Berry news, I'm not feeling all "calm down, people, it's just one game!"...... so, maybe we should all start panicking.

The decent / good O Line Vs. the complete and utter crap we call a line is a huge difference maker, it more than makes up for the fact the Charles is slightly better than Peterson (or was last year). Never mind they have legit TE. And Bowe, for all his talent, is, has been, and always will be Stone Hands in crucial situations, which he displayed again yesterday.

I think that if Baldwin is putting in the work right now, he will make a big difference both directly and indirectly to the offense once he gets on the field and that Cassel will play well once the team gets out of this lockout funk they seem to still be in, himself included.

As much as I would like to see Stanzi start this year, is Cassel really the biggest problem we have? I'm not trying to sound like a dickhead, but Cassel didn't allow 40+ points. It would have been nice to be more competitive, but we couldn't get the running game going on Sunday, and our secondary is on par with a paraplegic 7th grade flag football team. The fact that we allowed Ryan Fitzpatrick to score 4 TDs is the most alarming thing IMO.

No doubt, Cassel is a colossal waste of money and time -- I just think we have bigger fish to fry right now.

While I agree with your statement to an extent -- I saw a lot more issues than Cassel on Sunday. Everyone is probably right to say that our biggest problem is at QB, I would just like to see a bit more football before we start hammering people to the cross.

While I don't think we bounce back, we can probably stop the slide. It would sure be a shame if we blew a season, drafted Luck and continued to roll 6-8 win seasons because we solely blamed the QB.

Thats kind of silly considering 1) Internet message board posters have no impact on our draft or coaching, and 2) if we drafted Luck we'd probably be willing to write off 2 seasons and be fine with drafting tons of supporting players, looking forward to 2014.

Hell, if we drafted Luck and didn't screw him up, we might actually have a year when the Chiefs and Royals are both competitive at the same time. Presumably, the world would promptly end at that point.

If we kept improving anything like we did from 2009 to 2010, and avoided key injuries, I still thought we had a chance to jump to the next level. Also tough schedules have a way of looking a lot weaker 3 weeks into the season, and vice versa (IE - Colts).

But not now. Not after the way we looked, the lack of development from Baldwin, and of course the two key ACLs.
