I won't root for it like RedThat (at least no until the second half of the season), but I would not be surprised. That seems like a lot to say after one game, but my faith in this team was built around my faith in Pioli/Haley. There's very little of that at this point.

cmon. admit it. redthat is leading the way to the holy grail for chiefs fans everywhere. if you want to lose the team to LA after the Hunts cash in, which is what it appears chiefs fans want.

I should have arrowhead to myself next game there. the parking will be more than the tickets.

You want changes. You'll get them. If the team goes 5-11 or 4-12, something like that you'll most likely see major changes. Coaches that take big steps backwards get fired, and the team gets remade. It'll happen if the Chiefs lose.

It's because we have 3 good wrs. An improving offensive line and a qb that doesn't suck.

We have a talented dline and a mean group of linebackers, including the afc reigning sack champion.

We have a pair of good young corners.

Our safeties suck.

Still good enough to win 8 games.

If we had a great QB I'd agree. Peyton Manning got around losing Sanders, Big Ben gets around losing Polamalu, Matt Cassel can't overcome our Shituation.

Because we have a JV QB, Berry is by far and away our most important player. Losing Berry for us is almost as bad as the Colts dealing without Manning. Seriously.

I'll say this, NFL seasons are long. There will games we play much better than we did sunday. Cassel, as bad as he is, usually heats up somewhere in the middle of the season. I think we'll win a few games everyone is writing off. I don't think we'll win more than 6-7, but we're not the worst team in the NFL. There is still a lot of good talent on the team, enough to keep us from being a 2-3 win team.

I have a theory that a mentally defective monkey invented curly fries. I also have a theory that Haley isn't all that crazy about Cassel having, in the past, been associated with quarterbacks who can actually complete a pass over 5 yards downfield.

I think that Pioli has saddled Haley with Cassel and Haley is attempting to be a good soldier under the circumstances. Haley would probably be sleeping with the fishes were he to pull Cassel.

FAX

This could be. Cassel is Pioli's man. I don't think Cassel comes with the job however. If Haley gets fired, and Cassel proves, as he's done so far, that he's part of the problem. I really don't thinK Pioli would paint himself into a corner by telling the coaching candidates that Cassel IS the QB.

FAX

This. I really don't think Haley loves Cassel, I think he just protects him in front of the media. Its not like we ever had a guy who was better then him on the roster, so what can Haley do. We have Stanzi now, but even Stanzi lovers didn't want him starting week 1.

Haley is in a crappy situation that way. I think the offense looks so much worse when it is built around trying to protect Cassel. The fact that they build the offense to do just that shows what Haley really thinks of Matt, skill-wise. Im sure any head coach would love Cassel's toughness and leadership but thats about it.

Haley has made a lot of mistakes, but the Cassel stuff isn't on him IMO. i just really hope, if this season plays out like it looked Sunday, that they go to Stanzi for the garbage time. Would show Cassel is out and atleast show us a little of Stanzi. Not sure that happens. Doubt they hate on Cassel, doubt they trust Stanzi after no offseason, and doubt they throw him at that schedule late in the season.

Seriously.

Comparing Mark Castle to JV QBs is an insult to JV QBs.

Cassel doesnt really heat up, he may have 1-2 decent drives per game. The rest is going to be our Running backs doing something amazing or the defense getting 3 and outs (yeah, may not happen often this year).

This year is going to be ugly if they cant improve by ALOT, i mean ALOT.

Its not exactly a massive uncovering by him. Haley said straight up multiple times last year that they can't afford injuries. Applies just as much this year, and that says something about our offseason. RB, WR(if our QB was good), kinda DE, and LB before the Siler injury were all decent enough depth for a young team. Aside from that its a joke.

I really honestly think that Haley was force fed Matt Cassel and really has little faith in the guy.

Think about it. Coming from the likes of a Kurt Warner, then having to go w/ Matt Cassel all because Scott Pioli thinks he found another Tom Brady in MC???

I mean we all see it....players, coaches see it. MC is NOT a good QB. He won't ever be one either. There are just certain QB's that drop back and it makes you hold your damn breath and cross your fingers, hoping that something bad won't happen. Cassel is one of those QB's. His pocket presence, awareness, and ability to go through his reads is downright nightmare-ish....and top that with a pussy for an arm and terrible accuracy, and you get a mediocre at best QB, surrounded by talent that makes him better than he actually is, playing against a schedule that a good college team could compete with (not really - but you get the point).

I think Haley knows what he has w/ Cassel. That's primarily why this team ran the ball so much last season, and now I think that teams know how to not only beat us....but beat the piss out of us...simply:

Put the game in Cassel's hands, and the other team will most likely win the game, barring major injury or horrid turnover ratios. MC isn't a QB that this team can trust to go down the field in 1:30-2min late in the 4th qtr and win us ballgames against quality opponents. It simply doesn't happen. He simply looks overmatched, and doesn't look like he belongs.

Now, when I watched Stanzi play, he looked MUCH MORE poised in the pocket than Cassel does. Pre-season or not, IMO he was the best QB on the field. I'd like to see what the guy can do w/ the 1's...but that won't ever happen, especially w/ Pioli running the show. I really honestly think that Haley was force fed Matt Cassel and really has little faith in the guy.

Think about it. Coming from the likes of a Kurt Warner, then having to go w/ Matt Cassel all because Scott Pioli thinks he found another Tom Brady in MC???

Just look at the offense Todd runs here compared to Arizona. I don't think he scaled it back because he is a head coach now. I think that tells you everything about what he thinks of Matt's abilities.

Now, when I watched Stanzi play, he looked MUCH MORE poised in the pocket than Cassel does. Pre-season or not, IMO he was the best QB on the field. If Haley is too scared to play the best players available then I'll be first in line to kick his ass out the door.

I don't believe he is, as in ARZ they played Kurt Warner over a top 10 QB (young guy, big contract) Matt Leinart, now I don't know how much say he had in that decision, but the result was that the older veteran Warner played because he was better than the top 10 draft pick....but to be fair to TH, Pioli runs the show here in KC. Haley IMO is just a puppet.

I can't possibly think of a scenario when Todd Haley arrives in KC and says to Pioli, "Scott we have to find a way to get Matt Cassel from NE"

QB - the most important position on the field, was immediately dictated by the GM of this team from day 1, and was force fed to our HC by handing the starting job to him, not getting a quality vet backup to push him, and then signing the guy to a huge long term deal, essentially telling Haley this is going to be our guy whether he likes it or not.

Haley didn't have much credibility coming into this HC position. He was an OC, with no previous HC experience....a perfect "yes sir" man for Scott Pioli. Let's be honest here, and Nick Wright said it best.....the whole arrogant-based "Patriot right 53" is a ****ing joke, and only worked because they DID find a diamond in the rough in Tom Brady. And what sucks is that Pioli's taken that "diamond in the rough" mentality and backed it w/ his super bowl rings and arrogance, and is making some really terrible mistakes running this football team IMO.

We can all sit here and be our own armchair QB's, and as fans we obviously look at things differently and most of the time don't have all the inside info on what's going on behind closed doors and in practices/meetings (esp w/ this team..again - Patriot arrogance).....they're getting paid well for a reason, I understand that. But when you look at what's being brought out to the field on Sunday's...you can't sit there and really think that someone that has a lot of NFL experience under their belt, can honestly sit back and call MC a good QB and is the right man to lead this team to a SB.

Nick's point about Haley and Pioli not getting along is interesting. He based it on references from Babb and Mellinger.

Anyway, he said "Pioli and Haley both think they're the smartest guy in the room....so when they're in the same room together it doesn't work."

Why wasn't Nick preaching all this prior to the 1st preseason game? People are making up tons of crap now that the product looks like it has turned to crap. This offseason people were happy - draft looked good on paper, good player turnouts to the workouts, Breaston, Gregg, etc.

All the local media guys suddenly know things about the organization when they couldn't scoop a single signing or story the last three years. Some guy named "gasman" on twitter had to break the story about Baldwin. Phobia had to break the non-story about a non-existant finger bang.

Can you just not judge talent? Not only will Haley just move on without answering, Suddenly they're not getting interviews with players and coaches, and the team slowly takes them out of the loop. Cassel was dumped on Haley. Todd was looking for his first coaching job, he wasn't going to make a fuss about who his QB was at the time. I really think if Haley is allowed to make the decision, Stanzi is playing mid-season if this season plays out like Sunday.

I laugh at those saying Haley won't "run the ball during a blowout" because he did just that during the Eagles game awhile back. Likely the same fan(s) chastising Haley's contemptuous play calling during that Eagles game are the same saying Haley now won't take time to develop any particular aspect of this team during regulation.

The Chiefs are not a good football team yet. Is it so damn much a tangent to fans he is still developing this team during regulation? Obviously, it is.

He'll stick with the team - the core players and do those things to further their development unless he decides the player(s) isn't gonna or doesn't cut it.
