About twenty-five minutes ago I was at the Chevron in Buckhead. Buckhead is what you could compare Westport to, only much bigger.

Anyhow, about three miles from my house, gasing up, I pay for my gas, and buy a five dollar scratch-off lottery ticket and a two-dollar scratch off ticket.

Not only did I win, but I absolutely could NOT believe my eyes....

I won it on this game -->> http://www.galottery.com/games/instant-games/instant-games/8292-power-7s

@ this point - I'd yet to uncover the actual winnings, but I did uncover ten red 7's - this means I won double each bracket. I was expecting a dollar, as that's what it'd NORMALLY be.

But no, I learn that under each of these red sevens there's a $350.00 amount.

That's right 7k!!! It was practically surreal, I hugged the clerk and left - so tomorrow come 8:30 - this wigger is picking up a check for nearly $4,900.00 after states & Feds.

Life so rad!

Awaiting Kyle's PM. :P

it just never happens and yes, I still can't believe it - had it been earlier, i'd never had made a thread, but i simply had to let someone know! The taxes kills it, but nevertheless it's a nice 'shot in the arm'

I'm fine w/ this one falling to page 2or3, and I'm certainly not trying to brag, but i still can NOT freaking believe it!

He did that before he moved.

Wait he lived in ATL, now he is a transient.

Smyrna? There is a reason he is Metro...........

Metro equals white, IIRC. LMAO

No, but that DID happen back in 95. Bankhead is a tad different vs. 'Buckhead'

Per the IRS...

Topic 419 - Gambling Income and Losses

The following rules apply to casual gamblers. Gambling winnings are fully taxable and must be reported on your tax return. You must file Form 1040 (PDF) and include all of your winnings. Gambling income includes, but is not limited to, winnings from lotteries, raffles, horse races, and casinos. It includes cash winnings and also the fair market value of prizes such as cars and trips. For additional information, refer to Publication 525, Taxable and Nontaxable Income.

A payer is required to issue you a Form W-2G (PDF) if you receive certain gambling winnings or if you have any gambling winnings subject to Federal income tax withholding. All gambling winnings must be reported on your Form 1040, including winnings that are not subject to withholding. In addition, you may be required to pay an estimated tax on your gambling winnings. For information on withholding on gambling winnings, refer to Publication 505, Tax Withholding and Estimated Tax.

You may deduct gambling losses only if you itemize deductions. However, the amount of losses you deduct may not be more than the amount of gambling income reported on your return. Claim your gambling losses on Form 1040, Schedule A, as a miscellaneous itemized deduction that is not subject to the 2% limit.

It is important to keep an accurate diary or similar record of your gambling winnings and losses. To deduct your losses, you must be able to provide receipts, tickets, statements or other records that show the amount of both your winnings and losses. Refer to Publication 529, Miscellaneous Deductions, for more information.

Thanks everyone for the kind congrats.

I went this AM - I had some back-taxes I was making monthly payments on, so they'll deduct that balance from the payout. It's cool though, i'd planned on paying that off, anyhow. So it simply saved me a stamp,

Final Check after everything - $3,790.00 - nice right now, I needed it.

Again, ty ALL for the kind words.
