Andrew Luck On the Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs have all the playmakers in place to be a potent offense for the next decade. They just need an upgrade at quarterback over Matt Cassel. Backup Tyler Palko is clearly not the answer. 2011 5th round pick Ricky Stanzi has the ability to develop into a starter. He is not an immediate answer like Andrew Luck.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been outscored 89 to 10. The Chiefs have allowed the most points in the league and have scored the fewest. Offensive coordinator Charlie Weis is gone. Star running back Jamaal Charles is out for the year, tight end Tony Moeaki is also out for the year, Dwayne Bowe is in a contract year, 2011 first round pick Jonathan Baldwin needs to develop this year, and strong safety Eric Berry who is the Chiefs version of Troy Polamalu is out for the year.

The Chiefs are going to be a lost cause as long as Todd Haley is head coach and as long as Matt Cassel is quarterback. Just finding an upgrade at quarterback to Matt Cassel makes Kansas City a playoff contender in the AFC. Getting a quarterback with Andrew Luck’s skill set can make the Chiefs a Super Bowl contender.

The Chiefs will have Luck and the offensive playmakers on offense allowing them to take an offensive tackle in round 2 for depth who could develop into Luck’s blindside.

Kansas City Chiefs GM Scott Pioli used the 2010 and 2011 NFL Drafts to model a 3-4 defense exactly like the Pittsburgh Steelers 3-4 defense. By the time the Chiefs add Luck they will have a younger version of the 3-4 and could even have the personnel in place to leapfrog the Steelers as the top 3-4 defense in the league with some of Pittsburgh’s players aging on defense.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Andrew Luck are a match made in heaven. Keeping Todd Haley at head coach and Matt Cassel at quarterback makes this team an irrelevant lost cause. Finding a new regime at Head Coach and handing a team with so many Super Bowl pieces in place who just needs a quarterback like Luck makes Kansas City a dynasty team that could end up winning back to back Super Bowls.

I don't think it will happen. There are too many ways things can go against KC.... Luck could go back to school, he could refuse to play in KC, the Dolphins, Seahawks, 49ers, Vikings, Jaguars, and Colts could lose more and even if they lose as many as KC they will all win the strength of schedule tiebreaker. The odds of Luck ever playing a down for the Chiefs are less than 10%.

I'm gonna need you to show your work on that one.

Luck said he wanted to graduate which he will do this year. You named 7 teams, only one of which might be worse than us. How many times in the past 40 years has a player refused to play for the team they were drafted to? 2? Serious question. I'm no cdcox, but this all sounds better than 10% to me. Much better.

What is so funny is that if the Chiefs were in playoff contention you would be saying the total opposite of that. "Oh no way you beat GB even with their backups, your schedule is too tough, Denver will steal the playoffs from you week 17." Be honest, you know thats what you would say.

Luck is not going back to school. I am pretty sure he graduates in the spring. Exactly how many #1's have refused to play for a team that you feel thats a decent possibility? The Chiefs have more then enough going for them to not scare Luck off.

You honestly need to stop because its too obvious how much you don't want us to get Luck. You are just setting yourself up for even more pain from this.

You can keep saying the Chiefs don't suck that bad all you want, it will have no impact on the results.

1970 Heisman Trophy winner Jim Plunkett said to The Sporting News

"He came in with a lot of confidence, a lot of maturity. You get the sense from him just watching him at practice, before he even started a game because he redshirted, that there was something special about this young man... It's kind of hard to put into words... All of these kids can throw the ball, no doubt about it. But his vision, his timing, getting the ball out where it needs to be to be caught by the receiver only and not defended against, he almost had these attributes coming into Stanford, ahead of schedule. He was ready to go from the get-go. You see this in a few players over the years. Peyton (Manning), in particular had it."

Duke Coach David Cutcliffe, who mentored both Manning Brothers

"He's a little different than the Mannings, but he's got all of those tools, being you start with how you play the game. And it's not just the physical gifts. He plays the game really well to avoid sacks, pocket movement, awareness of the game, throwing the ball away when you need to and minimizing errors. He does that as well as any I have seen."

Former Quarterback Archie Manning, father of NFL Peyton and Eli

“Andrew is a very talented young man. He is so accurate with his throws. He has good passing techniques, and he is so smart throwing the ball down field. That is such a huge element of playing the position. Andrew can make all the throws necessary to be a really top-flight quarterback in college and in the pros. I was extremely impressed with him. Andrew came here to the camp as a high school quarterback about four or five years ago and you can see he is much stronger, and he has a chance to be a real special football player.”

San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh

“He's the best player, the most valuable player on maybe the best team in the country. He's thrown for (a record) 28 touchdowns. That's incredible when you think about all the quarterbacks that have played at Stanford. He's really done it all. He plays on one of the best offenses in the country. He's done everything a guy can do in a season. It's tough to make a case for anyone other than Andrew Luck. I feel Andrew's head and shoulders above them all."

“He is the best player I have ever been around.”

ESPN Draft Analyst Mel Kiper
“He's the total package. Arm strength, size, smarts, demeanor"

Sporting News in its Draft Preview

“Luck is advanced in terms of poise and pocket presence, especially surprising for a redshirt sophomore. He has all the physical tools, yes, but he also has everything above the shoulders an NFL quarterback must possess. He goes through his progressions, moves defenders with his eyes and makes great decisions. He also has been in Stanford's pro-style offense for three years, making him more prepared than most college quarterbacks to enter the NFL. He is reminiscent of the Colts' Peyton Manning and the Falcons' Matt Ryan when they entered the league.”

Well couple of things. The Chiefs play the Vikings in week 4 so the Vikings will win that. Also since they are going through the AFC west they will be playing the Broncos and Raiders at home. The also play the Arizona Cardinals so they have games they can win there.

The Jaguars play The Bengals in week 5 and 2 games against the Manningless Colts. Although the last game of the year is a Jaguars home game Vs Colts. The also play the Browns.

Both of those teams should be 4 - 12 worse case scenario

The Colts though really need Manning back badly. Geez the only wins I can see them getting are against the Chiefs and Bengals.

The Dolphins play The Browns, The Chiefs and the Redskins along with the Broncos and Oakland.

The Seahawks and the 49'ers play the in the NFC West so at least 2 home wins there, then the Browns and the Bengals and maybe the redskins team.

I mean can anyone look at the Chiefs schedule and name more the 2 wins?

This is one of the better highlight videos I've seen of Luck. It not only shows his great moments, but also some bone-headed ones as well. A good mix to really evaluate where he is in his QB development. Especially when you see that as the game goes on he rallys his team to a win. :thumb: Good find Claythan.

"He could refuse to play in KC"...what a load of nonsense.

Yeah, he's going to refuse to play for a team that has weapons on offense, a rabid fanbase when they are winning and a team one-year removed from the playoffs.

Get freaking real already.

The Chiefs have a brutal schedule. Miami is a good road team (Henne is far better on the road than at home) and the Colts bookends with kill us offensively.

This is a 2-14/3-13 team at best.

But this is the Chiefs, we will win enough game to be sitting at the 4 spot. And we wont give everything away to move up to #1 over all...

We will draft Foles and the epic Meltdown will ensue.

I wouldnt miss it for the world, it will be priceless....

Or imagine if it comes down to the last game of the season. We lose the game and we have the #1 pick, leaving no doubt we get the franchise QB that has eluded the Chiefs for so long. If we win the game, we drop into a 9th place tie for 2nd...

Chiefs in a stunner, win 78-3.

After 26 QB's back out of the probowl because of injuries and conflicting schedules, Cassel makes his 2nd trip.

Sounds too much like Madden...

Gary Barnett was on the Border Patrol this morning and said he had lunch with an NFL head coach back in April who told him that Andrew Luck was worth losing every game of the season to get.

Does anybody think Pioli might tell Haley to take a dive as it gets later in the season? Normally it would be unthinkable but these are very unusual circumstances. Given the rookie pay structure and the HUGE, HUGE gap between the #1 overall pick and all the ones after, it provides an enormous incentive to get that #1 pick.

You think he would be like, "Hey, let's try and get a win... but don't try TOO hard, know wham'sayin?" or actually tell Haley to take a flop? Maybe just hamstring the game with intentionally bad playcalling? I have to think if it's game 14 or later and we're tied for last place you have to make that extra effort to lose. You're not risking anything at that point, not even pride. You wouldn't have ANYTHING to gain by winning.
