View Full Version : Chiefs Would you accept a uniform change?

I used to be 100% against the idea of changing our uniforms. But let's face it, they're played out and just reek of mediocrity and awfulness. I think a change would be welcome now. Even if it's not a major change. At the very least, the yellow has got to go. We look like Ronald McDonald rolled around in ketchup and mustard.

 So true.

Yes I would.

I don't believe there is any great tradition tied to these uniforms. The Chiefs my whole life have been mostly average.

I'm not saying overhaul them. The home unies are actually pretty good. But make a few subtle changes.

- Lose the disco away pants.
- Change that yellow to a more goldish color. And have less of it.
- Our Logo has black in it, just add a touch of black trim somewhere. Should be subtle.

While I don't care for the "gold", I think making them red and black would look too much like the Falcons. Not really. You just replace the yellow on the sleeves and stripes on the pants/socks and it's the same uniform they are wearing now, minus the hideous yellow.

By comparasion...Let's use blue as an example... your point consists of basically telling me there is only one team that wears blue and their uniforms look the same?

Thanks and I respect your opinion, as well. I just think we could make it more modern and lose the yellow. The team would also benefit from having a new revenue stream from the proceeds of fans wanting the new merchandise, which, in my mind, gives us more revenue to build the team.

Plus, a change is sometimes good.

I might be open to moving the numbers off the sleeves to the top of the shoulder pads. Then adding an arrowhead to the side of the sleeves. The colors can't change IMO.

Part of the problem with our unies IMO has always been the aways.

People seem split between the red pants and all whites. I mean you can poll it. It's relatively even. I suspect nobody is really all that crazy about either. But what can you do?

That's why I like the idea of adopting gray pants. It's not drastic.

Take classic Georgia for example.

The only change I care about is to the material. I think the Chiefs uniforms could look great if they use the same material and fit as the NY Giants. It just looks good to me, and they all fit skin tight for the most part (like they are glued on to the pads almost). I also like that the jersey/pants have a matte finish or something to them. They aren't shiny, which for some reason I equate to a cheap or maybe a gaudy appearance.

While I don't care for the "gold", I think making them red and black would look too much like the Falcons.

I think the yellow does need to be tweaked to be the Chiefs 'yellow' or 'gold', something that is specific to them. I wouldn't mind a change to something similar to 'Old gold' like what MU uses, but then the Chiefs may look an awful lot like the USC Trojans, but I do like their colors.

Damn you kids and your Madden and love for Nike. Tradition bitches.

Unfortunately the only tradition the Chiefs really have is one of mediocrity. Chiefs aren't even 'always the bridesmaid' like the Bills were for so long.

Franchise win/loss is 395:366 if you include the last 2 losses. That is just barely over .500.

If we have to watch shit on the field, we might as well watch shit wearing better uniforms on the field.

It's not the outside of the uniforms that I'm worried about, it's the people inside of them.

The chiefs players should get to use tomahawks on defense and bows and arrows from the sideline.
Smoke signals from the opponents sideline to signal their play calls.
Ambushes in the tunnel when the opponents come out of the dressing room. scalp the runner after the tackle.

I'd be OK with a subtle change to the jersey, and/or incorporating gray pants.

Unrelated, the one thing I would like to see them do is make the logo at midfield bigger. The logo basically goes from the 47-50-47 yard lines.

I'd love to see it cover closer to 16-20 yards. Maybe from 40-50-40. That would kick ass, IMO.

IIRC from pics of the SB's, we've always had a yellow stripe on the pants, and we've always had yellow in the "banding" around the arms.

The uniform letters/numbers were plain white, not sure when they went to two-color.

The only change I support is getting more yellow back in the uniforms and getting rid of the all whites permanantly. All white looks stupid on everybody but Indy - they looked godawful on St. L last night.

The helmet cannot be changed at all whatsoever - I love on Madden we're the only team with one helmet option - want that to stay that way forever.

Oh yeah, and we're not to good for yellow. The Rams decided they were too good for yellow after they won it all, and except for a couple of years have been piss poor since. We call our colors red and gold even though its the most yellow looking "gold" i've ever seen.

Owners and GMs don't tend to use uniform changes as ways of giving a boost to an ailing situation.

They tend to use them when something big is on the horizon and it coincides with something that already is energizing the fan base.

Let's face it. Anything introduced this year would have the kiss of death.

Yeah, I'd support a uniform Change. Red & Yellow Apparel sucks. It makes it hard to buy Chiefs gear.

I look good in almost everything, but I can't pull off Red & Yellow.

Amen to that.

So hopefully next year. I'll "accept" the team wearing clown suits if they have a new rookie franchise QB.

what about black helmets? Remember when the Falcons wore red and they sucked, then they switched to black and they've been a lot better.

Broncos/Raiders look OK. Chargers/Chiefs look like comic book characters. The yellow/gold pants look stupid. They'd be better white or grey.

Twelve different shades of red would be great!

Good God. Why does every team have to have black? Black is soooooo kewl! Let's just have a league of 32 teams with black uniforms, and they can have different colored shoes and numbers to differentiate.

No. No. And No.

I love the gray idea. Get rid of the yellow, our new color scheme would be Red/Gray/Black/White. I'd go for a deeper gray, like Oregon wears sometimes. Same matte texture, too. Keep the red helmets, but with a black facemask. Also, modernize the stripes, ala what the Jags did a couple of years ago. Black shoes is a must.

They should start wearing pink uniforms to match the way they play.

Or Haley's sweater?

Gray would NOT be the way for a mediocre, unexciting, and stale team to go. Color psychology wise it relays all of the wrong messages. Silver would be better but someone has already done that.

Psychology of Color: Gray

Gray is most associated with the practical, timeless, middle-of-the-road, solid things in life. Too much gray leads to feeling mostly nothing; but a bit of gray will add that rock solid feeling to your product. Some shades of gray are associated with old age, death, taxes, depression or a lost sense of direction. Silver is an off-shoot of gray and often associated with giving a helping hand, strong character (sterling in-fact!). http://www.precisionintermedia.com/color.html

Color psychology wise the Chiefs have a very good color mix. The uniforms ain't the problem. Notice the bold sentence on pink. This could explain Haley's sweater. He is trying to calm himself and the meds aren't working.

Red and Yellow:

Psychology of Color: Red

If you want to draw attention, use red. It is often where the eye looks first. Red is the color of energy. It's associated with movement and excitement. People surrounded by red find their heart beating a little faster and often report feeling a bit out of breath. It's absolute the wrong color for a baby's room but perfect to get people excited. Wearing red clothes will make you appear a bit heavier and certainly more noticeable. (Some studies show red cars get more tickets but that maybe because the red car owners drive faster or the ticket giver notices the movement of the red car more prominently). Red is not a good color to over use but using a spot of red in just the right place is smart in some cases (one red accent in a otherwise neutral room draws the eye; a red tie with a navy blue suit and white shirts adds just the right amount of energy to draw the eye (no wonder it's the "uniform of the day" at the seats of government). Red is the symbol of life (red blooded life!) and, for this reason, it's the color worn by brides in China. Red is used at holidays that are about love and giving (red roses, Valentines hearts, Christmas, etc.) but the true color of love is pink. Pink is the most calming of all colors -- often our most dangerous criminals are housed in pink cells as studies show that color drains the energy and calms aggression. Think of pink as the color of romance, love, and gentle feelings, to be in the pink is to be soothed.

Psychology of Color: Yellow

Cheerful yellow the color of the sun, associated with laughter, happiness and good times. A person surrounded by yellow feels optimistic because the brain actually releases more seratonin (feel good chemical in the brain) when around this color. It is the color associated with optimism but be careful with yellow, when intense, it is the color of flames and studies show babies cry more in (bright) yellow rooms and tempers flare more around that color too. It has the power to speed up our metabolism and bring out some creative thoughts (legal tablets are yellow for good reason!). Yellow can be quickly overpowering if over-used, but used sparingly in the just the right place it can be an effective tool in marketing to greater sales. Some shades of yellow are associated with cowardice; but the more golden shades with the promise of better times.

gray = solid
yellow = gay

It's also half of Sasha Grey's name. I'm on board with gray.

I'll try again. Suds, do you photoshop these yourself or do you find them on some site or what?

Sorry. I'm a day poster only.

Yep. I have the picture saved on my PC. Then I just play with photoshop on the colors.

Yeah, hope and change always seem to work so well - let's try it with some classic, timeless football uniforms...

Some of you 16 year olds need to stfd and stfu...

that's the hard thing about a uniform change that I think people will just have to accept.

Our uniforms will look like some other teams (college or pro) somewhere.

I thought his attempt of switching out the yellow trim for black was pretty good. Still not a fan of the red pants but what can you do.
