Last 2 home games of the year. I'll be there tommorow night for the last one. We win both games and we finish the season above .500 at home. Louis Mendoza on the mound tonight (PCL pitcher of the year)

I'm jealous of you guys who get to watch so many games. I follow mostly by reading everything I can, gamecast, watching the highlights on-line a hundred times each and ESPN. I get to see some games against StL, the Sox and the Cubs. Maybe next year I'll feel like I can buy the games on-line but this year wasn't the year.

It takes effort to be die-hard from here but I have to do it.

Yeah I know but I've been here for the days of Tim Belcher and Neifi Perez and Benito Santiago... mostly still believing like a damn fool. I can't quit my Royals. This year with all the kids coming up and the future hopefully starting it'd be nice to have seen more games.

There's no logic to being a sports fan it just is.

Hosmer's last 27 games (basically just barely under the last month):

27 games:

.404 AVG, 26 runs, 8 HR, 22 RBI, 5 SB

13 multi-hit games, and has had a hit, walk, or RBI in every game but one over the last month. So he's being productive.

Eric Hosmer taking control in Kansas City

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2011/0628/grant_u_hosmer_576.jpg

big leagues, Derek Jeter said to him, adding, "It's the same game you've always played, just more people watching."

Paul Konerko talked hitting with him, but no one has talked more about that than David Ortiz, who carried over a conversation from one day at first base to a 30-minute exchange of thoughts with Hosmer the next day. Hosmer listens, in keeping with one of the first nicknames bestowed upon the Kansas City Royals' rookie first baseman: The Sponge.

Hosmer asks the right questions. He says the right things. He does everything the right way. Jeff Francoeur had a conversation last year with Mark DeRosa of the San Francisco Giants, and DeRosa had told him about how different the San Francisco clubhouse was after Buster Posey arrived.

"It reminds me of that," Francoeur said the other day. "How many rookies come up and just take over the 4-spot [in the lineup]? I'd have given anything to be like Hos at age 21.

"I can't believe that he's 21 years old. From the first day he was up here, it's like he just took over."

Hosmer has played 119 games in the big leagues and is hitting .289 with 17 homers and 71 RBIs. That's not really what is striking to Francoeur and other Royals; it's how Hosmer learns, how he adapts. When the Royals prepared to play some interleague games early in the year, Francoeur mentioned to Hosmer that if a pitcher happened to line a ball to right field, Francoeur might look to throw to first base.

"That's only time I mentioned it," Francoeur said. "We didn't talk about it for two months."

Weeks later, Michael Taylor of the Oakland Athletics ripped a ball to right field, and as Francoeur rushed to the ball, he could see, peripherally, that Hosmer was moving toward first base -- to give Francoeur a target at first base. They nailed Taylor. Francoeur and Hosmer almost got Alexei Ramirez of the Chicago White Sox the other night with the same play, and Ramirez screamed angrily at Francoeur for trying it.

The play is only possible, Francoeur said, if Hosmer reads the ball quickly and anticipates. On Thursday against the White Sox, Tyler Flowers walked to give Chicago runners at first and second and two outs -- and that's when Hosmer called for a pickoff play at first, successfully, to end the inning.

During a 10-game hitting streak that started in August and finished in September, Hosmer had three hits against the Detroit Tigers on Aug. 31 and three more hits the next day. When Francoeur walked to the plate for an at-bat, Detroit catcher Alex Avila remarked with admiration about how tough Hosmer was to face. "Dude, we have tried everything against him," Avila said. "We've thrown the kitchen sink at him, and we can't get him out."

But Hosmer is hitting .245 against lefties with a .293 on-base percentage and a .610 OPS. "He's not really hitting lefties, but he will, because he'll learn how to do it," Francoeur said. "When he does, he's going to be killing it."

"It's going to be fun to watch."

The Royals have seven straight victories and counting.

There is an expectation among rival executives that the Royals will be very active this winter in their search for at least one front-line starting pitcher such as James Shields of the Rays -- for whom the Tampa Bay Rays were willing to take offers before the trade deadline. And Kansas City has prospects to deal.

Absolutely fine starting place. Here's Longoria's ridiculous deal:

"Rookie third baseman Evan Longoria and the Tampa Bay Rays agreed Friday to a $17.5 million, six-year contract, a deal that could be worth up to $44.5 million over nine seasons." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3353025

Of course the 12 per would be to buy out a couple of FA years, and we could easily give him a bump in pay in the interim, but he's under team control for, what, the next five years or so. Therefore, we'd still be trying for a Longoria-like contract, with the real money on the back end. Longoria's is 11 per, I believe.

Today I was reading the bible and I was thinking really hard
how it applies to my life. I try to not just read it but to think about the spiritual interpretation of it. The story of Adam and Eve taken Literal is one thing but taking it for it's spirtual worth is another thing all together. How the story applies in my life today is when I see my favorite baseball team, I have to keep in mind the the way it is written in the bible. Adam is obviously Eric Hosmer. Full of wonder and might he was created from God. He was put on this earth to hit baseballs
over fences set up by man. From Hosmers rib God made Moustakas. Moustakas
would eventually fall to the devils curve ball, that curveball looks good Hosmer you can hit it out of the park! Then Hosmer struck out. This angered God mightily. So God sent down Jeff Blauser. An all star short stop for the
1992 Atlanta Braves. Jeff Blauser then picked up Hosmer and gave him a back breaker, and a DDT. He pinned him for a 1-2-3 count and Humanity was saved.

Hosmer and Boras won't accept anything very early in his career, who knows what the Royals and TV will be like 5 years down the road.

TV won't changed because the Rovals are finishing year 4 of a 12 year deal running through 2019.

So that means he won't sign a long term deal.

No, the apple/curveball means he won't sign one.
