View Full Version : Chiefs So seriously, WTF happened?

Let me explain...

Due to some work and previous commitments, I was only able to see a little of Sunday's game. At the time I had to quit watching, it was probably about halfway through the second quarter. I had seen the Lions score on their first drive, but only after McGraw's gift and a couple of stupid penalties. I saw Jamaal's sickening injury.

But I also saw a game that the Chiefs appeared to be seizing control of. The Lions had had three or four straight three-and-outs, the Chiefs offense was running the ball down Detroit's throat (without Charles!), and only Succop and Cassel were keeping the Chiefs from having the lead.

One of the last plays I saw was a running into the kicker penalty after the Chief's D had stuffed the Lions once again. A turning point?

So anyway, as I went about my business I felt fairly good about the game with the Chiefs trailing by a scant 7-3 margin and apparently pushing Detroit around.

The next time I saw a score, it was 34-3.

What the **** happened?!?!!?

I mean, a team that looked to be in control of things deep in the second quarter is now trailing 34-3 in the third quarter?

I would love to hear everyone's opinion on what the hell went so badly wrong...(I mean besides the gratuitous "Chiefs suck!" response)

Well, at least it seems to be unanimous so far, even if a little vague.

The Chiefs and the NFL wouldn't like to see many others do it but I must say that my blood pressure and life has been much better when I quit caring so passionately about the Chiefs a few years ago. I used to let myself get so worked up and would be willing to butt heads with nearly anybody over it. But now I can appreciate the good times(regardless of how rare they happen) and not get too pissed in the bad times. The downside is the good times probably aren't quite as joyful but when you are a Chiefs fan it is more than a fair trade since the bad times fair outweigh the good.

I love watching the games especially when we are beating the Donks and the Faiders ass but it is much easier for me to walk away and just spend the day enjoying my daughter. Getting old sucks in most regards but perspective and wisdom are a couple of the benefits I suppose.

Lets just say that Cassel threw a pass to himself for a 3 yard loss.

Haley(to an offensive player as they were coming off the field) calmly: Were you open?

the matchup with the Colts will likely be the Luck Bowl. Right now the odds are in the Chiefs favor but don't count out the Colts as they are really shitty as well.

I guess what I was wondering was if there was a particular turning point in the game...A turnover that seemed to swing all the momentum to the Lions, or something like that.
