Option 3: Stay on the bench for a year or so, with another QB other than Cassel starting.

Probably Option 2 or 3. Depends on who the other QB would be because Cassel just fucking sucks. Maybe they can bring in someone like Jeff George or Doug Flutie to not only start, but also mentor him.

Start right away. The notion that a franchise QB can be groomed while holding a clipboard on the sidelines is of days past. Let him take his lumps at speed. He will either learn from them or he won't. Sitting on the sidelines for a year or 2 won't change any bit of that.
