Realistic goal: Mizzou only loses by 14 and they say thanks for letting us play you. "Does anybody know that we are now the number 3 team in the big 12-2-1?"

Disrespect? They're ranked #1 in the country and are coming off a road-win against a previous #5 team. Hard to play the disrespect card, IMAO.

You obviously have no clue about Stoops. He is well known to play any random comment as disrespect to get his team fired up. This year it was a tweet by a Mizzou player, Jerrell Jackson. He is the master of mind games.

Mizzou wants to go to BCS bowls, correct? If this is the case, why do you guys want to go to the SEC? The Big 12 allows you a much easier path to your goal.

The Big 12 is a bad conference that won't be around much longer. A non-existent conference is not going to give anyone a easier path to BCS bowls.

Not necessarily. Mizzou fans want to be in a stable conference first and foremost that maximizes revenue for the conference while promoting equality for conference members. SEC, B1G, and PAC offer this opportunity. The Big 12 is falling apart before our very eyes because the biggest fish in the conference is only concerned about themselves and could give a f#ck less about anyone else.

Looking at purely what conference provides the best opportunity for a BCS bowl right now is an extremely simplistic point of view that does not consider other possible near-term or long-term outcomes.

Thanks guys. I was getting some odd answers in the "Conference Expansion" thread.

I hope the Big 12 gets it figured out. The Big 12 is our identity (Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Texas) and I hope that the jerkoffs that are fucking it up realize this.

I will let Dave Matter explain my perspective better than I could.

http://www.columbiatribune.com/weblo.../four-and-out/

(after talking about different conferences and how Mizzou would fit into them)
Will it make for an easier path to the BCS? Absolutely. And that's the standard a lot of writers are giving for which conference makes the most sense for Missouri. I respectfully disagree. Since when has the only standard for Missouri football been winning championships? Why is the easiest path the best path? (Maybe it's because we have full-time careers, two high-maintenance dogs and very active 22-month-old twin boys, but my wife and I have a saying around our house: "Easy is boring." I think it applies to Missouri football's conference situation, too.)

Would the SEC be a meat grinder each and every week? Absolutely. But what's wrong with that? Would Missouri have to recalibrate its expectations in the SEC? Most likely, yes. Would recruiting get an SEC bump with kids who'd rather play against LSU, Alabama, Auburn and Florida? Possibly, yes.

Maybe I'm in the minority among my peers, but I find the journey more compelling than the conclusion. Wouldn't a pressure cooker regular season with games against traditional football powers be far more entertaining than a home lineup against the likes of Cincinnati, Rutgers or Air Force? I probably don't have the best perspective on this. Because I donít care about the outcome each week or the team's final record. As long as Missouri plays in a relevant conference and plays important games, with a few appealing road trips along the way, I'm a happy guy. For my tastes, an 8-4 season in the SEC is far more interesting to cover as a journalist than 10-2 in some patched together Big 12 or Big East. Missouri should think big. Forget about finding the easiest path to college football's artificial, corporate-sponsored, postseason end game. College football should be about September, October and November ó not some bloated bowl system.

Twice = Billion Times

Moronic answers like this is the reason I had to ask on this thread:

Because tough competition is a great thing?

So, you would rather go 7-6 to 9-3 in the SEC then have a legitimate chance at a BCS in the Big 12?

Not everyone is a pussy who wants to run from big time competition. This is a team that has had sustained success and will have more shots at even greater success every now and again in cycles. From start to finish a season in the B12 isn't as interesting especially since good teams keep jumping ship and all these problems will just come up again.

The easiest road to the BCS would have been putting our football team in the Big East. But that is boring pussy football.

I am just trying to be realistic. If you think the Mizzou can compete with Bama, Florida, and LSU week in week out, year in year out, then by all means.

The rest of us that are realistic would rather stick to a decent Big 12 and have a shot then go the delusional route.

What shot do you (we) think you (we) have in the Bi*** 12-2-1?

As long as UT and OU are around and the league format remains like it is now, you can't seriously believe that you (we) will have any better chance of going to the BCS slots? If you do then you are delusional.

Everyone glossed over the small innocuous comment by Brown the other day when he talked about not having to worry about being "ambushed" in a Conference title game. With no divisions now, all UT and OU have to worry about is who loses the Red River Shootout.

At least going to the SEC there is a shot of getting better recruits in areas that don't see our games now, and we'll still have a small pipeline to TX with aTm in the conference too.

Since when has FX showed football games? I thought y'all were just abbreviating FOX. Thanks for the heads-up!

Started this year bc of the new rights deal. Its a test run for Fox they are rumored to want a Saturday game of the week like Abc.

Thing about Yost is, he'll think he can outsmart the other team and will abandon what's working, thinking that the other team is adjusting to it. The problem with that thought is, you put that goddamn game plan in place because it worked best against that competition. So, keep going to what's working and fake it every once in a while. Hate to sound like the Herminator, but it CAN work.

A lot of people on this board compare him to Cassel because he throws short a lot, but I think it is much more because of the scheme than it is a confidence issue. When the play calls for it, he can throw a beautiful deep ball.
