Not only did we easily avoid 100 losses, we could avoid 90 by sweeping the Twins. As an added bonus, if we at least win the series then the Twins get to feel the sharp sting of a 100-loss season.

I think I'll spend this 3rd inning break by mentioning that Moneyball was a good movie. I don't know that it deserved a lofty 94% on rotten tomatoes, but it is probably in the top-5 baseball movies of all time. Royals had a major part in it without being mocked, too.

Fair warning, movie is long. Use the restroom before it starts.

honestly, we probably did a little bit, but we're in a weird situation where all our best players are dirt-cheap and people will think Glass is pocketing money even though it might be logical. Even if you assume we're banking some money for the future and that we'll buy some free agent pitching, we can still easily afford it.

If we have overpaid based on the stats (we probably did) it wasn't by much. We're talking a couple million at most, which is definitely NOT going to prevent us from getting someone with our tiny payroll.

I wouldn't have thought so before the year began, but with the way it broke out and how close we seem to be, we've got plenty of money to spend for someone. If we want to package Wil Myers in a trade for someone else, thats fine too.

were gonna have to find out next season then i guess

ive never known this about baseball, if its even a valid question. about how many AB's does a guy have to have to even out his .BA to .... dont know how to say. be normal. or even out with the rest of the full season players. if that even makes sense, if not, **** my life

Isn't it 200-250? I could be wrong but it seems that's been what I've heard. I remember them wanting Hosmer to get about that many at bats in AAA before coming up to "get into his groove."

They need to sit Crow for the season. He just looks like he's hit his wall.

We're set up so perfectly to make our run. Moose is ending the season with confidence, Perez is balling, Hosmer is Hosmer, and we're winning games.

Can we just start the season now?

Weird.

I doubt they are Matt Dominguez or Michael Dunn though

According to ESPN the White Sox actually have traded Ozzie Guillen to the Marlins for a couple minor leaguers.

That's hilarious. I would have sworn you were joking when I read this. I didn't even know you could trade a manager. How weird.

Maybe the White Sox will hire Trey Hillman. :D

BTW, I'm surprised the Marlins traded for him. Wasn't he going to get fired?

uhh... this Guillen trade had better be for some horrid piece of crap C-minus-level prospects or the Marlins are completely retarded. The manager in baseball is the most irrelevant manager/head coach in all of sports.

I like Ned Yost, but I wouldn't trade anything for him.

We failed. It's pretty cool though. Since I've been around here game threads usually end completely by about the all-star break.

Thats actually a sad story. This trade brought so much attention and ridicule to John Odom with him constantly being called "bat man" and laughed at, that he apparently became addicted to drugs and alchohol and overdosed less than a year after the trade.

The moral of that story is, if you want to trade a player for bats, just ask for cash instead. There's no reason to take away someone's pride.

Sounds like the team that got the bats won that trade. Don't let David Glass hear about this.
