It's over. This team is going to be mediocre forever, and the true fans, who are legion, will continue to eat the 8-8s up like meth-injected, deep fried Pez.

Yes because the 'experts' like you wanting us to go 0-16 are so smart......Because so many 0-16 teams turn things around and win the superbowl soon after 0-16...

I get that, but there is no other QB worth drafting and Cassel is not going to get better, he isn't young. No team is going to trade away the top pick. So basically we will probably draft an offensive lineman...

Of course there is, there are almost EVERY single year. Because like the last few years when we were going to get a Offensivelineman in the first and didnt? quite being a bitch about it.

I just want to say i watn Cassel gone as well, but you cant ask grown men to just stop playing, these guys are playing for their jobs.

We arent a good team, and we arent a bottom of the barrel team. This team still has alot of talent. We may win 1-2 more games, the season gets alot harder after this.

And I've always liked Battle. Not flashy but just a solid back. As long as he doesn't fumble it, he's a much better option than Jones.

Thats great then....it must be nice to live in a simple world where complex problems can easily be solved by putting the blame on one singular thing instead of the myriad of actual issues and variables that are the reality.

I'm not saying cassel hasn't been an issue, I'm saying that there are also other serious issues.....going 0-16 or 1-15 wasn't going to be some great thing for our team in disguise....

I'd love to get luck, sure, but that just isn't happening...

So can we all just move on and root for our team to win now? Can we all be happy when players play well?

The lowly Raiders, Lions, Bengals, Falcons, all at least understood to get a franchise QB. We keep bringing in QBs that will just do enough to stay on the roster for 5 seasons and than show that aren't the long-term solution. Rinse and repeat.

This is all true. Issue is that our front office is willing to fix all those things except for Cassel. We dont have to root against our D for that to get fixed. Only way Cassel will get replaced is if that reality punches Pioli in the face hard.

You don't have to hate Cassel to see that he can't beat a real defense, and if the goal is a championship team, or threat there of for years to come, a QB needs to do that.

When his first read is open he can make throws, good throws. I don't argue that. I ask, can he read a defense? A real defense?

As much as I hate to, I have to agree with this. I want Cassel replaced. Unless.......and that's a big unless.....he can figure out how to play well like today consistently. He isn't gonna play a winless Colts team with rookie CBs to pick on every week. I wanna see this kind of play against good teams before I'll ever come close to believing in Cassel again. He fooled me last year until the end of the season. Not again.

That being said, I will always root for a win. This was a good day. People forget what wins do for many things such as chemistry and the passion, desire, and motivation to work hard to win games. I think a young team like this has to learn these kinds of things. Games like this tend to make a young team better.

WE played ok against shitty teams. This team could Very well lose the rest of their games and end up 2-14 still. We more then likely will win 4 games TOPS. That would still force the FO to draft a qb. we are 2-3 against the weakest part of our schedule. We are still in good shape.

Also, i think the play to breaston was a good throw, the Qb Got beat by the inside slant. there was no way for him to be in place after Breaston faked the slant.

Disagree with this entirely.

I'm not defending Cassel, I hate Cassel...

but outside of the quick slant to Bowe...WR's are paid to make plays. Breaston made a great play with that pylon dive and Bowe made a fantastic catch on a SAFE throw that big WR's get their way all the time...Dez, Calvin...they make the same catches and you rarely ever see those go for picks...because the 1 on 1 for a CB is too tough to get that head around and actually make a play...which is why interference is called all of the time.

the 4th TD to Breaston was a great throw...can't understand how you'd think differently

Fair enough take, but there are a contingent of posters to are so triumphal every time Cassel manages to pull so much as a neckbeard, let alone his entire chin, out of his ass, like every successful pass play was Elway and The Drive, that it's justified to assess that they ARE satisfied with Cassel, perhaps much than than satisfied.

it could have been better...sure, agreed

but that DB isn't ever going to make that catch...you have to play the receiver and then find the ball...no chance on that play and that's why you rarely ever see a pick on that play even though 1 or 2 of those are thrown on every team in just about every game

you see three plays goal to go, because they are safe

a run, a play-action TE pass, or a quick fade to your stud WR

the idea that the DB could have picked that off is ridiculous...sure, if he knew that was the playcall and knew the ball was going to be thrown where it was...yep! He'd pick it 9 times out of 10...but no way a DB can make that bang bang play from the snap of the ball...which is why he was all over Dwayne Bowe in the first place.

So why couldnt we draft a qb say 10th or 15th? They can win Superbowls as well right? Or is Luck the only qb entering the draft?

So true but its CP, people like me.

It's a pretty small contingent though.

S4L'ers for the most part think that "happy with win" = "happy with Cassel"

Outside a few gigantic homers, this is not true.

OMG people nobody wants Cassel to fail. He does that on his own (except occasionally against bad teams he does well like the past two weeks and last year against the NFC Worst). He's not a starting QB. He's definitely not a franchise QB. The fans, the players, the coaches all know it. Everyone in the league knows it. We will never win a playoff game with him at QB.

It's never Cassel. It's always someone bailing him out. /Cassel hater crowdWere all four TDs great plays by Bowe and Breaston? Cassel did noting any other Qb couldnt do . Nothing special. Cassel did his job. But in todays NFL, its not enough to win championships.

Outside of 2 or 3 people I don't see any of what you are talking about. Those 2 or 3 people do not a majority make. Hell they barely register.

Cassel is turd even when he shines and most people see him as just that, a shiny turd.

Being happy when we score is not a sign of being a bad fan. Sorry.

I am thoroughly ambivalent on 2011. Losing's fine if Luck is the end result. Winning's fine if I get to watch.

But I AM passionate about Cassel being gone after this season, and if the season plays out in ANY way that brings that development into doubt [whether it's looking only quasi-turdish for a stretch, or putting us in a position in the draft that a QB upgrade isn't a given] THAT I have a problem with.

The K.C. defense also came up big after a miserable first half. They held the Colts to two completions and two first downs in the second half and Indianapolis really seemed to miss Joseph Addai (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3646/joseph-addai) after the veteran left the game early with a hamstring injury. The Indy defense wore down because they were on the field so much and Cassel was able to take advantage of them time and again in the final 30 minutes.

If we don't win a game the rest of the season we'll still be in the Luck race. It's week 5, I just can't get caught up either way. This drama is draining. Let's see where we are in week 10 or so, I guess.

Only thing I think is that it's very difficult to get the #1 pick. Only one team is bad enough to do it. It's like saying "well just go win the Super Bowl." And sure you could conceivably tank every game but these guys aren't going to do that and lose their jobs. Haley would probably rather rip his eyeballs out than go 0-16, lose his job and watch Josh McDaniels stride in here with Andrew Luck in tow.

The Cowboys with Aikman, who were a one win team?
Like the Colts with Manning, who were a three win team?
Like the Steelers with Bradshaw, who were a one win team?

Cool story, bro.

Luck is not an option dude, if that's your goal your season is going to be worse than expected.

I am still hoping for a 1st round QB but I doubt trading our whole draft would get us Luck unless someone like Stl gets the pick.

As I hope I might've clarified with a subsequent post, there's a difference between 'happy with Cassel' and 'less than 100% committed to getting Cassel out of KC.'

I'd posit more SFLers think 'happy with a win' = 'insufficiently passionate about getting rid of Cassel'

I really worry about the Chiefs fan base in about 20 years if this keeps up. I hardly know anyone younger than 20 who is a Chiefs fan. The ones that are get mocked by the rest of the class. It was cool to be a Chiefs fan in the 80s and 90s, but it is not now. All the stupid kids sport Packers, Patriots, Raiders, and Steelers shit. Arrowhead is going to be half full in ten years.

You could be right, but as long as the owner is neck-deep in hookers, in Fiji, and making millions for doing NOTHING, I don't think he cares about the people in the town he hardly ever comes to. Yeah, he's a gem of an owner... But you're right, when i pick my kids up from school, they're not many Chiefs shirts.

As for the Raider gear, well that's all the useless ahole wanna-be thugs punk kinds trying to look like the punk thugs in the black hole POS the Raiders call a stadium... That'll never change. Good example of kids that should have been aborted!

What is funny is the people that think we have to have Cassel to succeed or Egoli will melt. If he has an ego why would he be interested in 4 years of QB suckage, bet he will take a chance-Who wouldn't. . The team is ready with no QB.

Some say do it is QB first, I think he believes that is the last piece and went with MC because he was not concerned then and knew it was the last piece.

Not that I believe that but fans bitch either way, NO? Can turn this into a no O line versus a GREAT line. LOL

I get the Cassel hate...I hate him. I want Luck more than anything. Blah. Not going to happen. But after the 1st freaking quarter when he was doing his checkdown impressions...

Cassel played really good football...which doesn't do anything for me...just 'meh'

You just defended Cassel you dipshit.

Dude.....

I know it isn't your goal in life to be fair but:

1)Aikman really wasn't a TD machine by any stretch of the imagination....It wasn't Aikman that turned that franchise around. A couple guys called Larry Allen and Emmit smith and a ground and pound game with a solid defense was MUCH more of the reason for their successes....Aikman had a solid season in 92, but i mean come on...many QB's couldve stepped on to that team and did what he did..Lets be real.

2) The Colts didn't win a SB with manning until 8 (eight seasons later). This proves my point, it doesn't help yours...Not sure why you brought this up.

3) Terry Bradshaw has rings...but it wasn't for 5 seasons after he was drafted that they won the SB. Also, as with Aikman, I really think a number of QB's couldve did what he did. Its not like he was throwing with UBER accuracy or for a ton of TDs and yards man...he had maybe 2 seasons where he broke 3000 yards. I don't think you can point to Bradshaw as the main reason for the Steelers success.

4) I'm not sure why you mention Joe montana as he was the 82nd pick ( 3rd round) and has absolutely nothing to do with what we are talking about. The 49ers didnt have a 1st overall pick in 79, they had a second...And it was James Owens who had absolutely nothing to do with any future team success.

If anything, your examples of teams who are of teams like the cowboys and steelers which are built around fundamentals - with GREAT lines, solid defense and a game manager QB who doesn't turn the ball over.

Their entire D was worn slick.

I sat here in shock.

I watched our 4th string HB have prison sex with their front 7 most of the day.

It looked like they didn't even try to cover anything beyond 20 yards (can't really blame them.)

I thought for sure the Vikes had the greatest amount of wasted talent in the league but now I'm convinced that finding a competent OC is like firing off a shotgun and hitting oil in your back yard...

Chiefs fans,
Congrats on your win today.

I'd like to make a new thread for this but that function is disabled for new members. My wife and daughter went to the Colts game today in Indianapolis. On their way out after our stunning upset, she stumbled across a camera bag, with a nice camera in it. She attempted to give it to a security guard, and his reaction was "no, no, we don't accept found items", and refused want to take responsibility for the property.

So it ended up coming home with us. After examination, there is no contact information in the bag, but I do have some pictures of the four red KC shirt wearing chaps that must have drove to Indy today. If this is your camera, would you please email me at gstofer at sidewindercomputers.com

I tried to register at Chiefs Crowd forum also but their registration is locked down. If someone has an account there or any other popular Chiefs forum, kindly rebroadcast this message. If no one claims it I will post a picture of the gentleman, someone has to know these guys.

Thank you
Gary

you're dumb

I hate Cassel and never want to see him start another game...doesn't mean he didn't play a great 2nd half.

I don't care how many times he plays like a pro bowler against a shit team...I know he can do that...

I also know he sucks, can't handle a pass rush, and any time we play a playoff caliber team he seems to find a way to be our biggest weakness.

So, in other words, I wanted us to go 0-16 and lose every game by 90 this year but it seems as if we're going to go 6-10 or 7-9 and continue to be mediocre featuring Mr. Mediocrity himself, Matt Cassel.
