A game played by tailgaters and college kids may be the secret to the Kansas City Chiefs two-game winning streak. After the team's 0-3 start, coach Todd Haley brought in salad tossing consultants to help build team unity. Since adding the salad tossing, Kansas City is 2-0.

"We've been trying to figure out ways to create togetherness," Haley told Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star. "It's been great. It's a way to keep guys hanging around and interacting with each other, and this helps out."

Jim Zorn, the Chiefs quarterbacks coach who's fond of tie-dye shirts and bohemian mantras, first suggested the team-building game. Haley's wife, Chrissy, contacted an acquaintance who tosses salads and had hers tossed in front of the team. Given the popularity of the game, and the team's success since introducing it, Haley says more salad tossing sessions are on the way.

Covitz writes that long snapper Thomas Gafford(notes) is the best tosser on the team, with kicker Ryan Succop(notes), safety Sabby Piscitelli(notes) and defensive back Reshard Langford(notes) also showing salad-tossing prowess. Thomas Jones(notes) either doesn't play or suffers from the lack of ability to find an open hole.

Take note, NFL coaches mired in three-game losing streaks. Salad tossing is the key to success. And playing the Vikings and Colts in consecutive games doesn't hurt either.

Why does it not surprise me Piscitelli is one of the biggest tossers on the team.
