Updated software for my iPhone a couple of days ago, and this one fucked up all my playlists. The songs are still there, but now they show up in a completely random order (not alphabetical, not by artist, not by rating) and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix it. I've tried resyncing several times (the one in the iTunes library on my computer is fine) to no avail. At one point I deleted one of the playlists from my phone, and then when I synced it wiped it out on my computer. I also tried to reconstruct a couple of the lists, but the songs just go back in the mindless random order - and can't be moved. I'm able to drag the songs into the order I want on the phone in edit mode, but when I exit that mode they revert to their original random fucked up order.

I really don't get this - never ever had problems like this before. I'm wondering if I should just reset my phone completely.

Any thoughts?

Oh, and fuck Apple. 4321

Wouldn't shock me to see the standard apple arguments start up.

Wish I had a clue as to what was causing your iphone problem though. Thats damn odd.

Well, it's too late to reset the damned thing tonight. If I have to, I'll do it tomorrow.

Never had any issues until this last upgrade. Fucking assholes.

Can you restore from a backup?

Try this. (http://forums.ilounge.com/itunes-mac-pc/208277-playlist-out-order.html) Hope it works for you.

Edit: The last post in that thread says there is a known issue and no fix for it yet, but that was way back in 2009 so whatever that issue was has surely been fixed by now. Try the "copy to play order" fix and see if it does anything.

What sync settings do you use? Do you manually manage your music and videos?

Can you restore from a backup?

Probably not. I think I'll just wipe it tonight and reload everything.

Solution:

Go to Apple Store.
Pay $19.99
Get playlist back.

Heh. Whatever solution I come up with, it won't involve me paying those fuckers $19.99.
