Let's go, Tigers. Line was 16.5. GP gets a DUI, and the line jumps to 18.

Saul Good

Good strategy to start. Gain of 8 on a running play. Then, we throw a pass for a loss of 2, have a false start, and take a sack. 30 mph wind, and we immediately start looking to pass.

Does not look like it. Run the hell out of the ball till Tech stops it. It keeps their offense on the sideline as well. Mizzou back in the game, defense needs to not allow any more points before the half...maybe they can tie it up.

Franklin is going to be a stud. He only did the stupid stand-like-a-statue thing twice, and he completed a swing pass on one and threw a really nice ball for a first down on the next to last drive on the other. Of course, the announcer said he looked cool like Tom Brady when he did it.

It was the right move on his part because he was a top 10 pick. It was a bad pick for the the Jags because he clearly wasn't ready. His pocket awareness was disasterous at Mizzou, and he overthew the out pattern like it was a paying job.

I don't agree that it was the right move....quite frankly if he continues playing like he has lately, he will make Matt Cassel look like Len Dawson.

I think he still could have been a top 10 pick this year and gotten some of the crappy habits under control. But quite frankly I am glad he left because it would set the team back a year in the development of Franklin.

He got a $12,000,000 contract. That ends the story. The advice isn't based on being ready. It's on being drafted in the first round. Beyond that, he'll receive better coaching in the NFL than at Mizzou.

He got a $12,000,000 contract. That ends the story. The advice isn't based on being ready. It's on being drafted in the first round. Beyond that, he'll receive better coaching in the NFL than at Mizzou.

He got a 12 million dollar contract which may be his only one...especially if he continues the really crappy ball he is playing now. He may be this decades Ryan Leaf.

It doesn't take much to get better QB coaching anywhere than what he would receive at MU. But that doesn't mean he will be any better....I just think his decision to come out early will shorten what little career he might have had anyway.

Where are you going with this? If you acknowledge that he is receiving better coaching now than he would if he had returned to Mizzou for his senior season, why would going back to Mizzou have helped him have a better professional career? You're not making any sense.

Let me help you here....I'm looking at it from both sides.

1) It was a wrong decision for him to go Pro, he wasn't ready and it shows. Even with NFL coaching I doubt he will make it because this season and another one like it will make him just like many of the other first round busts that have come and gone. (See any number of 1st round busts)

2) But even with "bad coaching" at MU maybe he could have gotten more mature. If he was smart he would have gone somewhere in the off-season and worked with a QB coach wunderkind and come back to MU for a Senior season and been more prepared for the NFL. (Yes I do realize that he could have gotten worse, gotten hurt or just stagnated)

3) The flip side is that Gabbert came back, was worse his Senior Year and Franklin sat on the bench wasting.

I'm just saying for Gabbert it was the wrong decision....for MU it was the best.

So let me ask you....do you think he will last beyond his first contract?

1. Why would he become more ready in college? If he was buried down on the practice squad or something in the pros, that might make sense. He's starting in the NFL, so he's getting the best coaching on the planet.

2. So you think he could go work with a QB coach if he stayed in college that he somehow doesn't have access to in the pros? Mizzou runs the spread, and they might take 15 snaps from under center in a season. He would be throwing a year of coaching away.

3. Gabbert made $12,000,000 by going pro. It was absolutely the right decision. Your entire argument is based on the idea that spending another year running the spread at Mizzou would somehow make him a better NFL player than starting in the NFL and receiving the best coaching in the world would. It's silly.

I don't know whether or not he will get another contract. I would guess that he will. If he doesn't, it's not because he didn't play another year under Yost and Pinkel.

Have you watched him any this year....he sucks, even with NFL coaching. All he is doing is floundering and losing confidence. Would he have been better off being in college, maybe not, but he sure as hell isn't helping himself in the Pro's right now.

Great...he gets 12 mill and lasts a couple of years but doesn't go anywhere afterwards.

I didn't say it would make him better, although maybe his ability to his the receivers in stride (or even hit his receivers) might improve.

I'm saying another season in the College ranks might have made him more mature and maybe even a little more ready for what he is facing this year.

He came out when the qb class was extremely week and he was a top 10 pick. Why stay if you are gonna be that high.

And FWIW....I'm glad he's not here, because it would have set Franklin back a year in development. Since we are moving to the more competitive SEC (good riddance Big 12) we need Franklin to be ready right away.

Because playing in a college spread coached by college coaches makes you a better NFL QB than playing in the NFL coached by the best coaches in the world.

He really got thrown into the fire too early this year. The Jags WR's are terrible and he had no offseason to learn the offense which has never been very good anyways.

I'm starting to think that it may take even more than three years to evaluate a QB.

Look at how up and down Flacco and Ryan have been. How Bradford seemed like a lock down stud last year and now looks like a bum. The last several QB classes have been schizophrenic.

Don't rush to judgment.

No offense, but what the f*** are you talking about?

Gary Pinkel has a very impressive track record working with QBs going back to his days as the OC at Washington.

Missouri has had a run of very good to excellent quarterback play since Pinkel came to Missouri. Even Farmer in the first year (when he was healthy) was above average.

You can dog many things the Missouri coaching staff does (scheming to stop spread passing attacks, for example). But quarterback development is not one of them.

Mizzou develops college QBs. They don't turn projects into NFL prospects, though.

I'm sorry...I must be missing someone that is a starting QB for an NFL team from MU.

And when it comes to how they handled Gabbert....it was not very well.

4 to 5 seems to be what it takes IMO unless they just completely blow chunks like a JaMarcus Russell. Not to mention the media is just way over blown these days and fantasy football ruins alot of it as well, a QB like Troy Aikman would get blasted today.

Didn't catch the game because of work but it looked pretty interesting. Hoping I can find it somewhere. It would be nice to beat Kansas and win a bowl game even if it is a shitty one. Our new down years yield 8 wins.

Chase Daniel went 8-5 his sophomore year. Blaine Gabbert went 8-5 his sophomore year. If we beat KU and win the bowl game, Franklin will be 8-5 his sophomore year.

I was at the game last night. Mizzou was lucky to win. Crowd was down because lots of kids went home for Thanksgiving Break, which started Friday. Good comeback, lucky stop on defense to win at the end.

We were fortunate to win, but Tech got a ton of lucky breaks. When they bounced the ball off the Center's helmet only to catch it for a first down and then a TD 3 plays later, I just thought it wasn't our day.

The INT wasn't lucky. It was the result of a concerted effort by the D-Lineman to bat the ball.

With this years Team, I will take a win in any fashion. I am actually surprised to see them with the possibility of finishing with a win over KU and then a Bowl bid. I thought this could be a down year while we regrouped.

The fun part is that we are building for what could be a decent first year in the SEC East. I definitely see us as better than Vandy, Tenn, Kentucky and South Carolina....and to some extent probably Georgia. Florida is having a bad year...so who's to say next year we couldn't come in strong.

Now....all that means is we have to be ready to understand that we have to get better to compete against teams like LSU and Alabama.
